What I saw about how to how to eliminate biased based on religion in the classroom to allow freedom of expression in a respectful way. This is a way to raise awareness on different cultures, religions, and beliefs. Doing group projects and different activities to help students learn about the different cultures that there are can help the student be more open minded and be more respectful of students with different religion backgrounds.

Forming a relationship between the school and the community, or the parent and teacher is incredibly important for the success of students. The reason for this is that forming a relationship between the two allows the school to work more efficiently and establish a connection of trust and understanding. This pact of partnership between the two allows for further success of students in many ways. One of which is support from their parents, if the parent knows what his child is doing at school, they can find a way to further explore the idea that is being taught. It is one thing to teach a child as their teacher, and another to teach them as a parent. Another way that this relationship further helps students, is through the implementation of diversity. Establishing a net of beliefs between the child, parent, and teacher helps build a relationship of understanding towards other cultures, ethnicities, and races.

As I was reading and hearing the responses of my peers I was noticing that most of the ideas made everyone think differently yet I agree with most, if not all, of my peers opinions. They made a great point in everything they had to say, and all that was said made you think in a different but good perspective of the field of education, and how to improve it for everyone.

I saw that parent conferences is important since It help parent to be aware of his or her son about education. I agree that it is important to have communication parent and teacher because parents can know what the student is struggling in and what do they need to improve. A parent- student day is a good idea for me but in some cases parents will not go. Even though that this events were mandatory there will be parents that they will not go because of his or her work. Open house is also a good idea because it help the parents know hot the teacher work with the students during class time.

A station that caught my attention was the one about what a teacher felt was needed the most in their classroom. I noticed majority of the responses chose Anti-bias and I 100% agree. Even though I chose a different thing I do feel like anti-bias is needed in the classroom, among many other things. We as a whole in the education system have a long way to go. Having no bias in the classroom tends to the need of the student, which is extremely important.

I believe, in reference to the station regarding culture, that most Mexican families do not fall under the liberal side. Most of my family are democrats mostly because of the way they were raised back home. Close family friends are the same way because of their culture. Also, the issue that is mostly important in our schools is the children that have disabilities and how this can lead to bullying. I believe that if we show our children at a young age that some people do not have the same mindful capacity. We should show our future generations how to deal with these children so they won't be as segregated as they are now. Maybe our children can make a better community for these students

One talked about how we can actually get parents to be more involved. My idea was to do events and have raffles at the end for parents to be there. It would be nice to have as many parents because it looks good on the school. Also, giving students a grade for their parents to come in would be a great idea. The whole point for this is to have better relationship with everyone and know what goes on in their homes. The teachers can also talk about academic behavior.

Most of the responses I was able to agree especially on parent involvement with the students and also background information on every student and their cultures and race. It is important to have all students learn about other students and where they are coming from and not have students with a closed mind set and not knowing about differences in their peers. It is important as well to maintain a healthy life style in order to have the students alert and focused and not be drained and tired.

Wether it is to help their parents be more involved in their children’s success or to help them feel welcomed in the classroom without the need of segregation. On one these activities we came up with some ideas that could make the parents be more involved and in another activity we determined why talking about different religions was important for some students

Most of these ideas should be spoken about to district representatives or anyone involved with education. I think that these ideas would help throughout our programs and will better benefit both the students and parents. What I came to wonder was if the future educators of tomorrow will apply these ideas that were wrote down. Maybe throughout time, it would be part of the curriculum and then as we teach kids, they can give out ideas to not only the teacher but to those who are wanting to pursue a job in the education field.
-Bernardo Pedraza

They are topics that are important for future educators to be aware of because they are conflicts happening within them. For example, the importance of knowing that a students culture is important to them, and not infringing on it, in any way. Being aware that not all students come from the same background, and understanding them. As well as getting information across to their families, so they will be aware of what’s going on in school.

With the families of the children being involved it can have a great impact towards their academics since the parents will be aware of how they are doing and what they need improvement on. As mentioned in station 2, “so parents can be aware of what their child needs, and if by any chance the child needs improvement”. Parent involvement can include field trips, conferences, meet the teacher night/open house/report card night.

As future educators, we will not only be working with children, we will also work with their parents and guardians. It is imperative to create connections between teachers and parents, and most of the responses seemed to agree with this statement. Many suggested having parent hosted events such as Jamaica’s and carnivals. Parent involvement should be implemented more in schools.

Although some responses were different we all were thinking alike when writing the response. In one or two stations it seemed that the responses were repeating, but that is because we said everything possible. In the station about Urgent Issues we all wrote different answers but they were all important because it is what the school, teachers, and students deal with everyday.

During the gallery walk I mostly saw examples on how we can implement teacher and parent interactions. I completely agreed with my peers because I believe that when a parent gets involved in a classroom the children feel that they care about them. If parents attend every school event the kids can improve their grades and have a positive view towards school even thought the parents are working they should still make time for their kids because then negative behavior can appear because they will feel they are not care about. Teachers should also inspect each of their students because sometimes they lack a subject and they can be embarrassed to ask, teachers sometimes tend to focus more on the smart ones because of favoritism and they leave the kid who needs help behind.

This gallery walk activity mainly focused on parent involvement and the inclusiveness of cultures in the classroom. Regarding parent involvement, I noticed parent-teacher conferences were the most requested. However, I believe that sending agendas, similar to students, to the parents so they can have a better understanding of what exactly goes on in the classroom. In response to having expressed cultures in the classroom, I believe it is important to celebrate and introduce new cultures. Providing the celebration of these cultures can open the eyes to many students and help them understand the multicultural world/nation we live in.
I found it quite astonishing that everyone in the classroom had a new idea, there were no "boring" ideas.
