The teacher or game greater has the ability to enter the question and the multiple choice answers. The downside is that every student or group of students need a computer, and the questions are limited to 140 letter.

On the second sticky note ask them to ask you a question. Maybe they will ask for something to be explained, or maybe they will ask how/when will they need this in the real world.

This is a great way to get younger students to self check their behavior. The student will color in the face to evaluate how they think they are doing. Happy face say they students think they are perfect, straight face says I am average, sad face says the student knows they need to improve.

The assessment example below is a great assessment for younger grades on classroom rules.

We want to be creative when we are assessing our students, some times it is as simple as a test. I would use this at the start of the year in a Pre-K or Kindergarten class. I would use flash cards or a chart and mark off the letters, shapes and sounds the students know.

Ticket out the door could be a quick write up on what you learned that day. It could be asking the students to solve a math problem before they leave, or to give you feed back on a lesson.

The students respond to a teacher promped question before they are able to leave.

I like this pocket system of ticket out the door, it is clean and neat! You can ask the students to answer you on an index card and slip it in the pocket on the way out. The teacher is able to read them and assess the class tone or understanding.

This is simple, and with a quick scan you can see where your students are.

The teacher can simply ask "Give me a thumbs up if you got it. Give me a thumbs down if you have no idea what is going on. Give me a thumbs in the middle if you think you need just a little more help."

The student can respond and the teacher can do a quick scan of the room to see if anyone needs additional help.

https://www.plickers.com/

Plickers is a way for teachers to assess the students in a fun way. You print up the cards and ask the students a question with answers being multiple choice. They student can hold up the correct answer and the teacher scans the room with her phone and it records the correct answers or incorrect answers. It allows the teacher to keep track of the questions that the students answered incorrectly.

I have who has game

This is a game that has cards that are given out to each student in the class. The cards have a statement write on them in some form. And a questions. the statement is normally something the student has to figure out like a math problem or a letter sound, ect. The first student reads the cards and says I have ( the answer to the problem) and reads the who has question. The who has statement is the answer to another student's problem on their cards. The student with the answer to the who has question answers with I have.....and the process is repeated.

For example- teacher has a start card that has Who has 1/4 written on it. Student A who has the card representing 1/4 repsonds with I have 1/4, who has 2/3? Then student B who has the card representing 2/3 responds and says I have 2/3 who has 1/2. Student C with the card representing 1/2 responds, I have 1/2 who has......and this goes on until every card has been called.

I love this game for so many subjects. The students have to pay attention and you are able to see who does not understand when they do not respond.
