THIS SONG FITS BECAUSE The song is about facing challenges and proving yourself, just like Steve is trying to do in court. He constantly is trying to prove that he is a good person and that he was not part of this terrible "mistake" but because of the law and who he was hanging around with, he is in some serious trouble.

I picked this song because on page 58, Steve is remembering how jail is.

This song fits because: The song talks about surviving jail time. They need to survive jail time. Also a part of the music it tells that they got sentenced in jail unfairly. They didn't commit the crime.

I picked the scene where Steve is writing in his journal about how he knows that he isn't a bad person, and how he wants people to see the real Steve Harmon.

THIS SONG FITS BECAUSE the in the song it says, " I'm a creep, i'm a weirdo." and Steve considers himself a monster and calls himself one. Also the song says, " I don't belong here." And on page 59, he states, " I know that in my heart i'm not a bad person." He knows he doesn't belong there.

I picked the scene where steve is talking to the lawyer about why did he participate in the crime.

This song fits because the part of the song I chose talks about fear and Steve said he was scared and afraid of Bobo and I made that connection because its about fear and anxiety so I thought the song would go with the scene.

I picked the scene on page 70 where Ms. O'Brien talks about the jury not seeing the difference between Steve and the bad guys on the stand. Also on page 70 is where Steve talks about not doing anything wrong.

THIS SONG FITS BECAUSE: This song fits because the song talks about being in jail/on trial but is innocent, not guilty. Steve is also on trial for something he didn't do which is the same thing the song talks about. They are both on trial even though they are innocent. The song title also talks about being "guilty until proven innocent" when it is "innocent until proven guilty" but the singer is black and is viewed as guilty because of it. The same thing is happening with Steve, the jury is viewing him as guilty because he is black.

I picked the scene where a pastor came to the jail and asked them whoever wants to share his problems with him he is free to share it with them. When a guy who said he needed a money and intend to pay it back once he got on feet.

This song fits because it sounds sad and the quote is a bit sad too. And both the quote and the song matches.

I picked this song because on page 2 Steve is shown behind bars with the sentence "He is as GUILTY as everybody else!"

This song fits because the most repeated part of the song is "I'm locked up" and in the book Steve is locked up behind bars.

I picked the scene where Steve's mom wants to go with Steve to jail and she does want Steve the way he is being treated by the police.

The song is about unconditional love and sacrifice, just like Steve's mom is acting. She wants to protect Steve and accompany Steve

I picked the scene where Steve is talking to his dad. They are both upset his dad starts to cry.

I chose this song because they are at their lowest point because his dad is crying. Steve was also really upset.

I picked this song becuase I heard it before

This songs fits becuase when steve made a mistake people looked at him like a monstser like the song is talking about.

I picked this song because in the scene of pages 79-80, Steve is getting judged and basically told hes supposed to go to jail due to his race

This song fits because both songs talked about being judged and being in a racist and overwhelming environment. Both 2Pac and Steve go through things due to their color/race.

This song fits because it talks about making a mistake and dealing with the consequences.

I picked this scene ( pg 58) where steve is watching a guy cry and he said "I wanted to cry like that guy". the sing and scene are connected because the song is about "someone whos trying hard to keep it together but cant" which is what steve is feeling so yea.👍

I picked the scene were Steve wrote a letter to his parents.Telling them who he really is. Which is not a monster.

I think the song goes well with this quote because in the song it says "all I see is racist faces" and in pages 78-79 the jury is mistreating him because of the color of his skin.

I picked this song because it relates to Steve's feelings during the scene were Steve's dad tells him he never would've imagined him in prison, and where Steve asks about his mom.

These two relate because the song explains a feeling of regret and taking something for granted, which is how Steve feels after his dad explains his disappointment.
