6th Grade - MATH I

Testing is going well! The students felt successful today and said the Math was easy. They also shared that they would like to take all the tests right away instead of spacing them out. They also felt a little more time was needed with this first test.

The 6th grade Math test was split into two sections w/calculator and w/o. I wasn't a fan of this structure because students had to submit the 1st section before moving on to the 2nd. Then they couldn't go back and check their work from the whole entire test. I really had to try and keep them on pace so they could reach the 2nd section with enough time.

I'm anxious for the rest of testing to see what our kids can do!

Testing is going fine. There's been no cliches so far. We only wish that there wasn't so much time between the days of testing. We think that our students would benefit from having the same subjects together consecutively.

Testing is going well for the first day. We feel 60 minutes isn't long enough to demonstrate what they truly can do. Maybe the schedule could've had the same tests grouped together, and not so many days in between. Our next test isn't until Tuesday, and our next Math test is on April 15th. The kids showed grit throughout the duration of the Math test today.

Testing went well on Day 1. We feel like the 60 minutes was too short for our kids, especially since it's the first time they've taken the test and still rely on strategies (like drawing pictures and using their fingers). We also wish that there wasn't so much time between the tests to help encourage students to stay focused/ keep the test important and relevant to them.

We love the idea of the student incentives and they are really using their scrap paper (more than in years past). They are also VERY excited to duct tape Dr. Doogan to the wall (and talk about it often). :)

Do you want us to do anything with the scratch paper to make passing out the tickets easier? Maybe a google doc so we can list how many tickets we need each day? Are the tickets for both math and reading (for example- practicing their writing with an organizer?).

Thank you!
