Week 1 - No class

As the title says, I was not able to meet my classmates on the first day since this term started on a Tuesday, and our PRCH3020 classes are on Mondays. Still, Professor Kim Anderson had us introduce each other, our names and our best purchase, through online discussion boards. Honestly, I find it very effective to get to know my classmates since I can read their introductions clearly. Because sometimes I can't really understand some of them when they're talking in class. Also, my best purchase was Apple's Airpods Max, which Prof Kim said she found interesting and would look into it.

Week 2 - First Meeting

Alright! Class is in session. It's our first time to meet everybody and our professor, Kim Anderson. As usual, our professor discussed a quick rundown of the course outline, the weekly modules, and what to expect this semester. What I like about today was she said this course has no tests. Yahoo! 😬 that would get a big chunk of the student workload. Anyway, we were tasked to do a presentation on the same day. We were asked to break into group and search a public agency in Canada. My group decided to do the Art Gallery of Ontario. I've just recently learned that the gallery has free admission every first Wednesday of the month which is cool. It was just a quick presentation, and I had fun listening to other public agencies as well.

Week 3 - SILEX

We don't have class today but we were told to join an online meeting via ZOOM to learn more about our group project. Our project is SILEX or Signature Learning Experience for HealthPRO Canada, where we study and provide solutions for the company's existing problems and challenges stated during the zoom meeting. To be honest, I joined late in the meeting because I overslept 😬 good thing my groupmates filled me in the details right after and I was able to catch up. This project was very interesting because we get to study a real-world agency and was able to talk to a representative.

Week 4 - Risk

Today's lesson is all about Risk Management. This course is actually familiar to me since I've had subjects that talk about this topic from previous semesters. Moving forward, we were asked to read a case study and gather ideas in the class. I've learned the value of insurances today, how it will lighten the burden in times of hazards, emergencies, and unprecedented events. Speaking of which, we have insurance coverage in school called Morcare and I frequently use it for massages, dental appointments, and chiropractic sessions.

Week 5 - Public Prcurement

Today, we're diving to Public Procurement. I just learned about contract A B which I find interesting considering its document name. It is a dual contract system that is fundamental to public procurement in Canada, providing written agreements and documentation for the use of public funds in Canada. Also, I just learned that projects in Canada are posted for bidding. Where the party interested for a certain project can apply and bid. Whereas, in my country, when it comes to projects, we appoint and select personnel we want to do our projects, and just base it on there portfolio and profile.

Week 6 - Group Work

Today's class was fun! We get to discuss a case in teams. Kosy, Aika, and Apple were my group mates for today's group case analysis. We were asked to finalize our group's executive summary and submit it today. Everyone gave valuable insights that contributed to the work's success. I've always loved working in groups because I find it easier to finish task in a fun and fast way. P.S these people are smart 🤓 they give out ideas in a flash! Even my brain can't keep up with them.

Week 7 - Study Break

S T U D Y B R E A K!! Finally, a little breather after the start of the semester. I never really studied much, I just went to work and went to starbucks almost every day. It's my comfort place and I love coffee!!

Week 8 - Class again

Alright, back to reality! Today we talked about competitive bidding in procurement. It's amazing how competitive bidding promotes healthy competition among other bidders, ensuring that the agency or company get the optimal value of their funds. Also, we talked about documents that I am already familiar with such as RFQ, RFI, RFP, etc. I'm amazed how my past learnings are still of use up to this date.

Week 9 - S.O.W

Today's class was more interactive. Professor Kim started calling out names that encouraged participation in class. We talked about Scopes of Work today, about limitations and areas that cover the requesting party or services. We get to work in groups today! We were asked to choose a product with specific details and description and let the class guess that item. Overall, I had fun today listening to other people's ways to deliver a presentation in class.

Week 10 - Ethics

Today, we talked about work Ethics. Which I am already familiar with back in the Philippines. This topic is often discussed in school because it promotes ethical practices, transparency in the workplace, and fairness. Also, professor Kim showed a funny clip from a TV show that talks about work ethics. It was funny yet educational. Today was fun!

Week 11 - SILEX (again)

Today, we were asked to finalize our SILEX project and prepare for our presentation. There was no course content discussion today. Professor Kim was there the entire time to help us and answer any queries from the studentes - which was nice! Here we look happy because we've finalized our paper and we're just dividing the presentation work!

Week 12 - Presentation Day

We look cute! One finger raised for Team 1! We presented out SILEX presentation today and it was a lot of fun! I've always find talking in front nerve-wrenching but at the same time, it helps develop my character and speaking skills. Overall, today was fun and I get to hear my classmates talk and watch their presentations.

Week 13 - Not a lot of students

Today, we talked about Contract and Supplier Management. There were a few of us today! Anyway, we talked about the important elements of a contract and how it is used in public agency.

Week 14 - Last Day

Today's our last day of class. I am happy with everyone I met in class and to some I made friends with! To be honest, I sent this photo to my mom and told her that these were my classmates. Thank you, Professor Kim for sharing your knowledge about this course. You were so nice and patient the entire time. Until next time! he❤️
