The American Indian Museum was very interesting and has a huge importance in both US history and in our villages. I found the artwork and native images throughout history/products particularly cool. I previously knew that there were 8 tribes recognized in North Carolina but seeing all of the different flags made me realize that there were so many more than I was aware of.

This trip is the first time I have been on a metro. We don’t have any public transit at home in the Outer Banks, and we only have the bus system in Raleigh, so this was a cool experience for me. I didn’t realize it rocked kind of like a rollercoaster but now I have gotten used to it.

Yesterday morning, I got up bright and early to go to the zoo!!! I have always loved seeing animals, especially lions because they are my favorite. I am glad I went in the morning because all of the animals were still waking up and bathing in the sun. ☀️🦁

I saw this in the African-American history museum. I thought it was genuinely interesting and it connects back to both of our villages. There was a lot of important history, especially in the first floor, but this really resonated with me.

Found this in the American History museum as well. My younger brother went to Japan this summer and told me how the menu at McDonald’s was different. This is an actual phenomenon called McDonaldization, where other cultures have McDonald’s but instead of fries, they may have rice or something else.

This is the Capital Building! The last time that I saw it in person was 2018, it is more grand than I remember. I also walked around to the other side and saw the Ulysses S. Grant Statue and strolled around the pond there.

The Natural History Museum! Unfortunately, the butterfly and insects sections were closed but the rest of the museum was super cool. The ancient Egypt and mummy exhibit was small but still really interesting, especially the tombs such as this one.
