I think it would be cool to  also include a section of the research paper on a few assignments that use smartphones too.

I think that Old English is part of the 'cannon' that we discussed in class. The second question, I feel, is less helpful. When teaching literature, the combination of writing and ideas adds to the meaning and depth of a novel.
