During an MGMT concert grand finale, the artists played their most popular song "Kids" while flinging rainbow confetti and blue frosted vanilla birthday cake into the audience. This turned into a full-fledged "cake" war that elicited much excitement, energy, and fun. Whenever I hear this song play, I feel nostalgic and reminisce about that memorable chapter of my life (college). It reminds me of all the self-discoveries and new experiences I had then that impacted who I have become today.

Sum 41 "In Too Deep"
This was the first concert I attended when I was in high school, and I was admittedly terrified after my first mosh pit experience. My friend who introduced me to Sum 41 then has actually become one of my best friends. Now, 17 years later, we are both high school teachers and mothers to young children. This was one of the last times I hung out with a group of friends I knew in the Navy, ones I became close with during that time period. One of the guys has since passed away, so this especially brings up good memories of him. There are mountains located on the outside of the stadium, and it was a beautiful evening/night in Southern California. When the band played High Hopes, the sound of a bell first vibrated throughout the stadium. This was a magical experience, as they went into one of my favorite songs off of their then latest album. G.E.M., a Chinese pop singer, was my favorite singer in middle and early high school. I was listening to this particular song during a hard season. It encourages us to not be afraid despite how chaotic and overwhelming life feels. The lyrics of the chorus exhort us to take courage, to not compromise despite hardships, and to not despair or be anxious. This song was important to me because in listening to it I felt understood, and it perfectly captured the bold and unrelenting attitude I wanted to embrace.

"Sanctuary (feat. Propaganda)" by Remedy Drive
Remedy Drive is a rock and roll band using music to raise awareness about human trafficking. The personal connection I have with this song is that during high school, I learned about the horrors of modern-day human trafficking in my classes, whether it be child soldiers, forced labor, or sex trafficking. I felt a burden for those who suffered from this cruelty. This is one of my favorite Bollywood songs. It is from my favorite Bollywood movies called “Jab We Met”, which means When we met. This song reminds me of my childhood because I remember watching this movie at least 10 times when I was younger.

MySpace is a very special song to me because it was the last song played by the artist at the first concert I went to. It was a BabyTron concert at a random bar in Chicago with no security. Because of this in the middle of Trons performance someone got in a fight and pulled out a gun. So the concert was cancelled immediately and everyone ran out. It was a very memorable experience.
