According to the article “On June 15, 2020, the Supreme Court ruled that LGBTQ+ employees are protected by federal law in the 1964 Civil Rights Act prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex.” Another thing said in the article was “However, LGBTQ+ people continue to encounter discrimination in employment, health care, and other aspects of their lives. Not all federal civil rights protections cover all members of the LGBTQ+ community, and the legal protections established by state legislatures can vary significantly.” State governments and local politicians have challenged federal orders regarding LGBTQ+ rights on several occasions.
