Author: Katie Alender
Year of Publication: 2014

Summery from Amazon:
Willa is freaking out. It seems like she's seeing things. Like a dead body in her swimming pool. Frantic messages on her walls. A reflection that is not her own. It's almost as if someone -- or something -- is trying to send her a message.
Meanwhile, a killer is stalking Los Angeles -- a killer who reenacts famous movie murder scenes. Could Willa's strange visions have to do with these unsolved murders? Or is she going crazy? And who can she confide in? There's Marnie, her new friend who may not be totally trustworthy. And there's Reed, who's ridiculously handsome and seems to get Willa. There's also Wyatt, who's super smart but unhealthily obsessed with the Hollywood Killer.
All Willa knows is, she has to confront the possible-ghost in her house, or she just might lose her mind . . . or her life.

Why I Choose the Book: Some of the reasons why i wanted to read this book were that the pic of the book seemed really interesting to me. After reading the summery the most interesting part of the book to me looked like the fact that the murders were staged after hollywood horror movies.

Paragraph: When I nodded, she went on. "What you have to understand is that a spirit presence docent operate like you or me. We're a mess of thoughts and feelings. A spirit is more like... an instinct. Its whole purpose is to drive at something, to convey an idea or concept." (120)
Explain: This paragraph is important because Leyta, the psychic explains to Willa that ghosts don't come to you and talk to you in normal human language. That then helps Willa to be able to understand who she is speaking to and what there message is.

Sentence: "Yes, she is!" she said, smiling brightly. "This is Bernadette Middleton. She's also Kate Middleton's cousin1" (142)
Explain: This is when Willa's friend told the reporters that she was famous and wills=a ended up being in a magazine.

Word: "Ghost" (105)
Sentence: The whole book is about the ghost and trying to figure out what they were trying to communicate.

All the sudden i hear a loud banning knock at my door. I knew i shouldn't answer it. Its the ghost, it's the ghost, I tell myself. But Against my better judgement i opens the door only to find a pathway of lush red roses leading away from my door. I stand in my door way pondering my next move. I decide to follow the pathway because of Leytas advice to listen to the ghost.

I chose this because at the begging of the book when Willa tries to contact her father and she uses a candle, a ring, and a book. I also imagine Jonathan's house as like an old timey house and this candle goes along with that. I also chose this because its kind of mysterious and though whole book is a mystery about the hollywood killer.

Quote: "Paige looked over at me. In her gaze I saw sympathy, understanding, sorrow . . . but also anger. Resolve. Strength."(Alender 291)

Explanation: This quote is very important because its the moment that Paige shows up to save the day. It also shows the different emotions in Paige as she helps Willa
