This shows that the idea of "non-binary" gender isn't simply a fluke among a few isolated individuals, but a somewhat broader phenomenon.

An increase in mental health awareness is a necessity in our society today, in which a stigma against mental health issues drives students away from seeking the help they need. "It's hard to quantify behaviors related to depression and anxiety, like nonsuicidal self-harm, because they are deliberately secretive" (Schrobsdorff, 2016, pg 47). Here, Schrobsdorff pushes the idea that it is hard to get an accurate read on how many students suffer from severe anxiety, depression, or other mental illnesses. Therefore, on must wonder how many people are suffering without receiving the treatment they need because it is considered taboo.

Palmer reported the accident as he should have, but because he was slurring his words and shaking, he was arrested for drunk driving. Palmer has cerebral palsy" (Carter-Long, L., Perry, D.M., 2014, May). This report is one example of how law enforcement mistreated a disabled man after a misunderstanding. Because he was disabled and likely distraught, the officers assumed that they knew the condition Palmer was in without asking him. As a result, an innocent man was arrested for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

New one
One might ask, exactly how do the wind turbines benefit our health or the environment? Well, as of now it's an increasingly more popular alternative to coal power, and has already reduced many omissions from cars; as Keith Kloor of Discovery Magazine (2013) quoted, "wind energy allows New York state to offset 'more than 1, 834,576 metric tons of climate-altering carbon pollution which is the equivalent of taking 382,203 cars off the road'...New Yorkers avoid '1,724 tons of smog-causing nitrogen oxides which contributes to asthma, and 2,130 tons of sulfur dioxide which is a major component of acid rain.'” This means that because of wind power, the health of the population could very well increase as long as the installment of wind turbines continues throughout New York.
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/collideascape/2013/11/29/wind-energy-making-dent-new-yorks-carbon-pollution/#.WspSftWnHrc

Many people feel that school uniforms are a good idea because they benefit the children or their families. However, Bill Clinton apparently does not think so. after his election in 1996, he began supporting school uniforms, but evidently only in specific areas of the nation. According to a 2016 study by the National Center for Education Statistics, school uniforms are required at fifty-three percent of schools where three-quarters of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. But, of schools where fewer than a quarter of students are so eligible, only four percent require uniforms (Oppenheimer, 2017, pg. 1). In other words, lower income communities were pressed harder for mandatory school uniforms. President Clinton used policies to try to look as though he cared about the expenses of poorer families, but was really trying to increase voting support from lower income families. It was all apolitical game, and not at all about the people.

According to researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of public Health, they concluded from a study that, "57% of children who are currently between ages 2 and 19 will be obese by the age of 35, if current trends continue." (Ducharme, 2017). This data is saying that if children continue on the path of unhealthy behavior, then they will become obese sometime in their lifetime. This is an alarmingly high number, and it will continue to rise if kids develop habits of lazy behavior or unhealthy eating and to continue these habits through adulthood. However, this statistic does not mean someone cannot become obese if they were not already during childhood. Someone can develop obesity of become overweight at any time during their lifetime.

In a scholarly journal, leadership development specialist Rachel Simmons proves, " One study found that female college students who did this on Facebook were more likely to link their self-worth to their looks" (Simmons, 2016).This is pure proof of the damage one can feel from a simple glance upon social media and its unrealistic body images therefore, destroying peoples' self esteem by the minute.

Standardized testing has rapidly increased over the years. These tests monitor students progress and predict their success in the future. According to Lyndsey Layton, " A typical student takes 112 mandated standardized tests between pre-kindergarten classes and 12th grade, a new Council of the Great City Schools study found" (Layton, 2015). This information shows that students are constantly being tested, even kindergartners, to ensure that they are actually learning something in the classroom. Obviously, this not only shows that students are tested multiple times a year, but also emphasizes the significance of students performances on these tests because it is vital to their future aspirations.

In our modern day society, many people believe that the greatest way to see if a teacher is doing their job is to simply observe how good their students' test scores are. Well it may come as a bit of a shock, but judging how good a teacher is at his/her job based on the scores of their pupils is not even close to being an effective way to grade teachers. According to Amanda Ripley, a writer for The Atlantic, "Test scores can reveal when kids are not learning; they can’t reveal why. They might make teachers relax or despair—but they can’t help teachers improve" (Ripley, 2014). The whole point of finding out whether teachers are good or bad at their job is to make the bad teachers try to teach children better, so that the students actually learn the information they are being taught. By saying that test score results don't "help teachers to improve", Ripley is telling people that "grading" teachers based on test scores is unreliable and it doesn't actually motivate teachers to do better. To put it simply, schools need a better way of evaluating their teachers than just looking at student grades, they need to be able to know what a teacher is or is not doing that is effecting the students ability to learn
