Puritans are a radical religious group that first appeared in the Church of England in the late sixteenth century. The Puritans started on the beginning of English Reformation, where King Henry the VIII was reforming the Church of Rome to the Church of England. But, the Church of England kept the Rome Catholicism belief, which upset many of the Puritans. This led to a movement where they sought to "purify" the Church of England to stop Catholicism. The Puritans' migration to early America occurred in 1620-1630, which mainly consisted of men. Their ultimate goal was to spread their teaching into the Early America to combat against the Catholics.

Cite:
“Puritans.” Edited by History.com Editors, History.com, A&E Television Networks, 21 Aug. 2018,
www.history.com/topics/colonial-america/puritanism.

In the Puritan community, there are several individuals that influenced them. First, the leader of the Puritans, John Winthrop, influenced his followers that if they followed the obligations of God, they would be blessed; and if they didn't, they will be punished.
