Clothing affects how the mind thinks. A study published on the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology’s website, shows that students who dressed in white coats felt that they were doctors and performed better on tests than those who wore regular, everyday clothes. Their heightened focus was evident only when students actually put on the coat in question, and not just when they were in the same room.

Our brain weighs the pleasure of acquiring against the pain of paying.

https://www.riskology.co/dress-well/ (story on trust and distrust based on how one dresses themselves)

"The clothes you wear and the way you groom yourself will change the way other people hear what you say. It will subconsciously tell them if you’re like them or if you’re different. It will determine whether they listen or ignore. Trust or distrust."
- Imagine if you were lost and there were two paths. One man who is dressed in a suit and tie, tells you to go left, while another man, dressed in sweats and a hoodie tells you to turn right, many people would choose to turn left and trust the man in the suit. Now think to yourself, why would most people turn left instead of right?

"How you dress yourself changes who you are. It changes the value of what you have to say. At least to the people who are looking and listening."
- If a person is wearing a certain uniform or outfit, others will assume that's who they are. Clothes are a huge factor on how people first view someone. For example, a lot of the time, people can not tell if babies are girls or boys. This is why mothers usually dress them in certain colours. Blue for boys, and pink for girls.

A fashion reporter, decided to try and only buy clothes that were sold over $150. Although she couldn't meet the goal every single time, she did meet it many other times. She saved a lot of money by doing so because she learned to not buy something if you don't truly want it, or will appreciate the garment.

Also, by shopping this way, you save closet space, have a closet with all expensive clothes, save money as well as wasting less, and decreasing worker exploitation.

"The ideal consequence of this way of shopping, if you give it a try, isn’t just to buy less, but also to buy better. By forcing myself to seriously consider my purchases, I’ve been more likely to buy clothes I genuinely like and appreciate, rather than accumulating low-cost impulse buys."

"But I do buy less, and I like what I have more. That in itself has been worth every dollar."
