VOA Learning English - Let's Learn English - VOA - Voice of America English News (voanews.com)

The first Idea I have for supporting ELL students in the classroom is the use of Podcasts. As a class, we could create a podcast talking about the topics we have learned for the week. The students would create their script, with teacher support, and discuss their favorite aspect of the learning. The podcast linked above is one that helps students learn English. I believe by both using a podcast for ELL students, as well as having them participate in making their own classroom podcast will help them learn as well as capture their ideas.

Sploder - Make your own Games, Play Free Games

Another Idea for ELL students would be the usage of the website Sploder. Sploder allows users to create games and play games which are made by peers. The class could create games which support their English learning, as well as get feedback from their peers on their game. This will promote both communication and learning within the classroom. However, it will be important for the teacher to monitor the games to ensure they are not being misused.

I love both ideas. I think Spoloder would work great with participation points. For example many teachers give class points and give rewards. The teacher can allow students to trade those class points for an hour or a certain amount of time to play the games on the website. I love the website.
