Although Guitar and the Seven Days are justifiably angry, their violent actions are not. Hate breeds more hate, and the existence of their society shows that. The violence against African Americans being returned to "even the score" is not a valid reason to harm others. The fact that the society actively seeks out people to kill, even if it's random, still makes the violence senseless and cruel

Violence is justifiable when defending ones own. The premise that Guitar and his group operate on disrupts order; as they are killing white people who have no direct connection to hate crimes against African Americans.

I don't think it is ever justifiable except in self-defense, which in that case it would be against someone else being violent. In the novel Guitar justifies it by saying he is making the numbers even, but I don't think he makes the impact he thinks he is making. He is just hurting more and more people and he, just like the white people in the story seeing black people in the same way, does not see white people as real people. For most people it is impossible to kill someone and not feel the immense guilt, to be able to do that you must not see the person you are inflicting the harm on as a real person.

I think there are very few instances when violence is justifiable, but sometimes when there is injustice against a group and no other means have made any impact on stopping this injustice, there can nothing else to do to create change. However I do not think that killing randomly and potentially innocent people like the Seven Days is doing is justifiable violence. Although African Americans in the US have dealt with so much injustice and violence might be the only way to create meaningful change, I do not think that killing and especially not random people that could be innocent is a justifiable avenue for the violence that may be necessary.

I think violence is justifiable if it is necessary to defend ones self but otherwise there are very few instances when violence is okay. Like when Macon had to stab that white man because it seemed like he was going to attack him. In the case of Guitar and The Seven Days though, they are using violence to "make numbers even" because of his idea that all white people are bad. At the end of the day though, he is still killing innocent people and adding to the overall violence and deaths. This is understandable because of all the hate and violence against African Americans for so many years but that doesn't make it justifiable.

I believe that violence is never the correct option, but it is justifiable if it is the only way to prevent someone else from hurting you. In Guitar and the Seven Days's case, the violence is not justified, because Guitar isn't going to be less hurt if he doesn't kill those people, and even admits that killing the people doesn't stop the killing that would be done to black people anyway

I think violence can be justified in certain scenarios. I think that in the scenario of Guitar and the Seven Days, it isn't entirely justifiable but it is very understandable. When a group of people have been systematically dehumanized for hundreds of years, violence towards the oppressing class is almost inevitable. However, I think that using violence as a form of justice or punishment, like the death-penalty, only leads to a society that revolves around, and breeds more violence.

I think violence is justifiable in self defense, where you have to protect yourself. Violence stems from anger and hatred but self-defense stems from instinct and fighting for your life. The motive in defending yourself and fighting for your life when you are in danger is extremely different than a motive to be violent towards someone. I think it comes down to what the motive is and the circumstances. I can't say it is always justifiable or never or even sometimes because it depends on the case.
