Her friends constantly remind her that she was too young to lose her dad. It definitely appeals that she had a close bond with her father but it unfortunately did not last long. So far, she rarely mentions how she was affected by her dad's death because she bottles everything inside. Hopefully further on in the story we can infer or realize the truth behind her feelings on the topic of her father's death.

Her journey begins to the psych ward from her state or the look of her injury, which her arms are covered with suicidal cuts. Obviously these cuts indicate that the protagonist is in trauma and in need of mental care at a psych ward, as it was mentioned in the story that she was transferred to the psych ward from a different hospital. The protagonist of "Girl's in pieces", is similar or related to how some people in real life are sent to mental hospitals; traumas and mental illnesses. This story may have successfully illustrated a fact portrayed in fiction - how lots of lone children in the world are sent to mental hospitals, importantly because of past trauma.
