A Couple of years ago on Mothers Day my two daughters decided to take me out for a surprise dinner to celebrate at a posh restaurant by the water. We had reservations and arrived 10 minutes early, we were told our table is not available and could we return in one hour as the bar was full of waiting customers. We were shocked, we thought about going elsewhere but everything was fully booked. so we arrived an hour later as requested and were seated at our table. Our waitress was cold and abrupt, one of daughters has aspergers and requested a food item only reserved for children on the menu. Food texture and taste are a serious matter her. The waitress refused to allow her to order anything from the children section of the menu , i asked the waitress to make an exception this time because its mothers day and the difficulty of getting seating. she still refused. My daughter decided not eat. Even my other daughter and myself just sat there in shock at that lack of understanding from this server. None of us enjoyed our time at this restaurant. After the server brought us our bill, i quietly walked to the bar and asked to speak with the manager, the gentleman brought me to the back . When the manager appeared i was upset as it was the same person who served us . She said Im the manager how can i help you. I firmly told her that it was the worst dinning experience of my families lives that she assumed we were trying to take advantage of the menu not knowing my daughters hidden disability. She offered to pay for our food. I told her that at this point that does nothing for the embarrassment and ruined mother's day that we were sharing as a family. "Service", providing to a client, customer, guest, person etc.. a positive experience that's memorable enjoyable unforgettable. One they will talk about , walk away with smiles on there faces.Where they will return because they were made to feel important not just ordinary.
