Humanely Raised-A term that covers a lot of terms. It is recognized that the certain product was raised in a humane way.
Grass Fed-The product that you have bought has never eaten grain and has access to open grazing during certain seasons. However some times animals are only partially grass fed and this means that they may have been grass fed for a period of time but were not the entire time. I would prefer the grass fed label to be admitted by the Animal Welfare Institute.
Animal Welfare Approved-A non-profit organization that gives "certification" to family farms that allow animals outdoors on pastures that allows them to perform instinctive behaviors. No growth hormones and no antibiotics allowed unless recommended by a veterinarian. The antibiotic must be out of the system before being sold.

1 - Lean/Extra Lean makes sure that there is a limited amount of fat in the meat you're eating and that's a good thing because if you eat more fat in the meats it is not as healthy for you.
2 - Pasture-Raised makes sure that the animals "can roam freely in their natural environment" and they live being able to "eat nutritious grasses and other plants that their bodies are adapted to digest" that's important because its just morally right to make sure the animals have a good life before you kill them
3 - Hormone-Free/No Added Hormones is a good thing because if there is too many hormones in the food you are eating it isn't good for your body.

1. Certified Humane - This one is most important to me because I don't want to support a business that mistreats animals. This also ensures that the meat is antibiotic and hormone free.
2. Animal Welfare Approved - This label expresses that the animals are housed outdoors and hormone and antibiotic free.
3. Hormone-free/no added hormones - This label guarantees that the animals are never given hormones because extensive use can increase the risk of cancer in humans and higher rates of infection in animals. (No specific certification but organic, grass-fed and many humane certifications do not allow hormone use)

Animal welfare: The non-profit organization grants certification to independent farms that raises their animals outside or range that allow instinct behaviors. It requires that animal s be rendered insensible to pain prior to slaughtered.
Pastured raised: Animals that have free roam in a natural environment where they can eat healthy grasses that they can either adapt or eat healthy.
Hormone free/No hormone added: This means no hormones. The USDA doesn't let hormones in chicken, turkeys and hogs. The use of hormones may increase cancer risks and infections in animals.

1) Certified Humane- One of the things I hate the most is seeing animals not treated right. This prevents animal cruelty.
2) Lean/Extra Lean- There is a certain amount of fat to keep it on the healthier side. Having too much fat is not good.
3) Animal Welfare Approved- Animals can perform instinctive behaviors, raised outside, and antibiotics are only used for sickness.

1) Animal Welfare Approved- Allows animals to perform instinctive behaviors, and be raised outdoors on pasture or range. Antibiotics are only used for sickness. The animal is slaughtered after the antibiotic is out of its system. This is not granted to people who use growth hormone.
2) High Global Animal Partnership Animal Welfare Rating- Prohibits cages and crates, requires "environmental enrichment for indoor animals, gives animals access to the outdoors, a "pasture based" system, signifies an "animal-centered approach", and the animal spends their whole life on the same farm with access to pasture. This prohibits use of antibiotics in cattle and pig. Growth hormones are prohibited.
3) Organic- Food cannot be irradiated, genetically modified, grown using synthetic fertilizers, chemical or sewage sludge. Organic meat and poultry cannot be treated with hormones or antibiotics. Must have access to outdoors.

1) Grass Fed- This is important for me because it means that the animals most likely had access to pastures and have had to have room because when animals are too close together in a pasture than the grass dies.
2) Certified Humane- Animals can't be confined to cages and they can't have antibiotics unless they are sick. They are also slaughtered in a humane way, with little suffering. This is important because it means that the animals lived a fairly healthy natural lifestyle.
3) Organic- Organic food has a lot of specific rules and guidelines that need to be followed. This means that the animals are raised in a more natural ways, which is important for me.
