Persuasive Essay: Emotional pain vs. Physical pain. Sample #1

“I’d rather be physically hurt than emotionally. Because you can put a band-aid on your finger, but you can’t put one on your heart.” This quote signifies that physical pain can be healed way easier than emotional pain. It’s easier to heal from bruise than a death. Emotional pain is harder to heal from because it damages self-esteem and emotional pain doesn’t get as much attention as physical pain.
To start off, emotional pain affects your self-esteem and long-term mental health. For physical pain to lower your self-esteem, it would have to be quite extreme, such as losing your leg or being paralyzed. But even single episodes of emotional pain can damage your self-esteem. For example, getting failing grades on your report card or failing an exam can cause anxiety and a fear of failure. Another example is being bullied in school. Being bullied can lead to you feeling like your worthless and weak. Emotional pain branches off to man more symptoms that affect you in the long run.
As a follow up, physical pain garners far more empathy than emotional pain. People react differently to physical and emotional pain. For example, when we see someone get hit by a car we start rushing towards that person and check if they are alright. Compared to seeing someone get bullied, nobody will even bother to help the person in need. Studies show that people consistently underestimate other’s emotional pain but not their physical pain. For one to feel empathy towards someone else’s emotional pain is for them to go through a similar experience as well. Since emotional pain gets less attention, its gets tended to less which means more people feeling heartbroken or depressed.
To conclude, the lack of empathy for one’s emotional pain and the aftermath makes it challenging to recover an emotional wound. A cut is nothing compared to the pain that lingers after breaking up with your partner.

Analytical Paragraph: Is Brutus a hero or villain? Sample#4

Brutus can be a villain or hero, but I think of him more as a hero. Although Brutus was a loyal friend to
Caesar, he cares more about Rome and doing the right thing. In Act 2, Scene 1 it says, " He would be
crowned: How that might change his nature, there's the questions, It is the bright day that brings forth the
adder,[...] And therefore think him as a serpent's egg which, hatched, would, as his kind, grow,
mischievous, and kill him in the shell." This quote proves my answer because Brutus says that he must
kill Caesar in order to stop him from becoming dangerous, The author wants to learn from the text that no
matter how much someone is loyal to you, they must sacrifice that loyalty for the sake of the people.

In the articles,"The Controversial Law at the Heart...and "Children are Dying..." both authors are using
logos and pathos for the effectiveness of their arguments. A quote from "The Controversial Law at the
Heart..." states, "That's especially true in a state like Florida, where it's easy even for a guy like
Zimmerman - who was arrested in 2005 for battery on a police officer (Par.7)." and it also states in
"Children are Dying...","Deaths of children and teens under 18 years had been declining from 2006 to
2013 (Par.3)." I choose these quotes because they back up the article with facts about laws and deaths.
These articles also included pathos because they talked about incidents about deaths from guns. The
author wants us to learn that guns make a significant impact on our lives.

Persuasive Essay: Should teachers carry concealed weapons on campus? Sample#2

July 26,1764 was the first ever school shooting record in history. And they haven’t stopped ever since. Some schools don’t have any security nor protection against such violent attacks. Maybe it’s time for teachers to step in. I think teachers should be able to carry concealed weapons because they can stop school shootings and they should go through a background check and training.
To begin with, teachers with weapons can protect the school and students. For example, if a school shooting were to happen then the teachers would be able to fight back. Police take around 20 minutes to respond and arrive to an emergency call. That’s enough time for a school shooter to ravage around the school and inflict harm on others. Instead, the teachers can whip their gun out and defend the class. Taking action instead of running can change the tide of the battle. They can save lives and prevent multiple shootings from occurring such as the Sandy Hook Elementary and the Columbine High School shooting.
As a follow up, if a teacher were to carry a concealed weapon then they would have to go through a background check and training. For example, not any teach should use a gun but one with experience. Just in case, because you never know if a teacher is crazy or not. Teachers need to go through an extensive background, so they make sure they have a clean record and no criminal activity. Teachers need to go through the training enough to the point where they can aim and shoot a gun steadily. No teacher should be given the power of a gun if they aren’t ready.
To conclude, teachers with concealed weapon give the school a sense of security and a thorough background check and training for teacher to keep it on the safe side. It’s better to be safe than sorry wen it comes to keeping people safe.
