Graded simulation on DKA in Term 1 allowed me to understand gaps to work on like delegating tasks, communication and helping each other, to do better in the graded simulation in Term 2
Getting to learn about the different OT equipments from Term 1 was also a fruitful takeaway from NSL. 

Term 2:
To work on identified gaps and do better compared to Term 1, like taking more initiative.

Term 2 : 
Be less anxious and be more prepared during practical test. I need to be more familarise when doing both my ot skills and tracheostomy dressing.Learn my mistakes and be more prepare for my upcoming attachment.As all the skills is also major.Do more read up before attachment comes in.

Term 2

I could have been more confident with the trachy dressing skill as I could not finish the skill within the time limit. Practicing and going through the skill for attachments would be important so I can perform my tasks efficiently during clinicals. 

Teamwork for simulation was not as good as we still were not as confident when we were communicating and carrying out the tasks

- Work on my sterilisation in the OT setting as at times, i tend to accidentally touch the outside of my gown for example
- Another thing that i would need to work on would be my time management when performing my skills as sometimes i take too long so i should next time try to do the procedure with more swiftness

Term 2:
- To work on reducing on my contamination and trying to familiarise myself more with my skills as came to my practical test i feel like i wasn’t as familiar with my trachy suctioning skill as compared to my TPN skill and this caused me to miss out on two important steps and i accidentally grabbed my suctioning tube with the non sterilised glove hand so this caused the procedure to be contaminated so it is important for me to revise and be more prepared in the future.

However, in term 1 and term 2, I think I should recognize when and where I should slow down in order to avoid lapses in critical points of procedures.

In term 1, I overlooked an area which costed patient’s safety.

In term 2, I made a critical safety error as I let the suction tube touch the cot side since I pulled the suction packaging too far/fast and didn’t manage to coil it around my hand.

  1. I learnt how to do trachy dressing properly without contamination. This will help me during my attachment as I will be confident in performing trachy dressing on a real patient.
  2. However, i need to improve on my OT skills as during the practical test i had contamination. I can practice more during my OT attachment which will help me be more competent when i become a staff nurse.
 
Term 2: 
  1. I learnt the importance of the 3 checks when doing TPN administration as it will ensure the correct drug is being administered to the correct patient
  2. I need to improve on my trachy suctioning skill as I failed to do a few steps during my practical test. Those steps are important to ensure patient is properly oxygenated during the procedure.

- was quite familiar with this skill as it has the same concepts as wound dressing 
- however, a little difficult to not get contaminated 
- found it challenging to put the gauze at the end of the dressing without contaminating my forceps 


OT: 
- was quite unfamiliar with this skill as this is our first “exposure” to OT 
- challenging to remember the instruments and to lay them accordingly 
- fun experience as we got to learn the basics of OT 

Term 2: 

Tracheostomy suctioning: 
- found it challenging to get used to the flow of tracheostomy suctioning 
- through this experience I was able to understand the importance of suctioning 

TPN: 
- easier to understand the flow as it is similar to blood transfusion 
- need to remember to check identifier against IMR

Stimulation class helps me to have the better communication among group members and got to know what to do and how to react if i face the cases in hospital!! 
I am not confident in doing tracheostomy suctioning! I should be more familiarise with thề apparatus setting, manual resuscitator).

Tracheostomy dressing.
Skill wise, it was easy enough to prepare the dressing set and ensure no contamination occurred. However, the hard part was after the cleaning, it was very difficult to slide the two pieces of gauze underneath the tracheotomy plate and I definitely contaminated the dressing sometimes during practice.
Peri-operative. 
This was my tested practical skill, and admittedly I contaminated the procedure when I accidentally put my sterile gloves clad hands below my waist at one point. And I didn't have enough time to lay out the surgical tools completely. Now I am more careful with ensuring my hands do not go below my waist to maintain sterility.

Term 2:

Tracheostomy suctioning.
This was definitely one of the skills that I had the least amount of practice with, and it showed during the practical test when I flushed the suction catheter with water between each trachy suction which meant the procedure was not sterile anymore.
TPN.
TPN was relatively straightforward, and easy to grasp. Just tedious with the three checks but once done; then you can most definitely have enough time for bonus questions.

Term 1.
1. tracheostomy dressing
- One of my skills was trache dressing, through this lesson i acquired a detailed understanding of the step-by-step process involved in tracheostomy dressing changes, emphasizing the need for careful technique and attention to detail.This experience reinforced the significance of meticulous technique and adherence to infection control measures during tracheostomy care. I learned that thorough preparation and a methodical approach contribute to a successful and comfortable procedure for both the patient and the healthcare provider.

2. Ot
- another one was Ot preparation. Through OT equipment preparation, i learned about various tools and devices used in therapy sessions, becoming familiar with their functions and applications. I learned about the significance of meticulous attention to detail when arranging surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure everything is readily accessible and properly organized.

term 2
1. TPN
- TPN administration has taught me how to set up and manage infusion pumps and other equipment essential for the delivery of TPN. i also learned the importance of maintaining aseptic technique to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.

2. suctioning
-I learned to how handle and set up suctioning equipment, including suction catheters, collection canisters, and connecting tubing.


Takeaways 
1. To practice Regularly. i learned that consistent practice is key to improvement. Set aside time each day or week to practice the specific skills you want to improve.

2. Effective communication. i think i have honed my communication skills, learning how to convey complex medical information clearly to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
