This amendment means that the government cannot pass laws that impose an official religion or ban a religion. In addition, no laws can made inhibiting the thing that a person can say, and the press can report whatever they please whether it be true or not. People can gather together to share ideals, as long as nothing violent is being done, and they can also complain about the government. (Peacefully)

As long as there is no war present concerning the United States, soldiers cannot be quartered in anyone's house. During a time of war, only the war can make soldiers quartered in homes.

The government can't search a household unless they have a proper warrant which is just and specifically states the reason for the search, and the items that will be searched.

People cannot be self-incriminated upon unless they go through a fair trial. In addition, a person cannot be put on trial for their crime a second time. In addition, everyone has the right to a fair and speedy trial. Lastly, when the government takes land from someone, they must provide proper compensation for it.

All people in the United States have the right to a fair and speedy trial with a fair jury. Witnesses must be present at the trial. A person can only be convicted in the state where he or she committed the crime.

Lawsuits have the right to be decided on in a federal court only if the lawsuit is worth more than $20. If a jury settles the case, it cannot be brought up again.
