“Seeing” is not the same as “looking”. Seeing is a physical act of the eyes. Looking implies seeing in a conscious and intentional way; in other words: looking is the interpretation that our mind makes of the image provided by the eyes.

I use a painting by Van Gogh as an example.

Thanks to our eyes we “see” a wheat field with birds flying overhead, however, thanks to our mind knowing that this painting is the last one Vincent Van Gogh painted before committing suicide, we now “look at” the same painting from an emotional perspective and understand Vincent when he said:

“Instead of reproducing exactly what I have before my eyes, I prefer to use colour to express myself more strongly.”

In Mexico, his house is a museum dedicated to her works.

She had 4 children. Her husband was also a painter: Diego Rivera.

She did a total of 150 works.

She died at the age of 47 on Juli 13th 1954.

During one of our English lessons at CFA Tarragona, we watched the program AIXÒ NO ÉS UNA CANÇÓ by Ramon Gener, and we absolutely loved it! 🎶 We wanted to recommend it to you so that we can all enjoy the music and share the lyrics of the different songs together.

Our top pick is from Season 2, Episode 3, where they explore LET IT BE by The Beatles. We found it fascinating, especially the way the Beatles' songs were introduced and the stories behind their creation. Highly recommended for music lovers and English learners alike! 🎧✨
