The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has classified the river as a Class C. Class C rivers are useful in growing fish and other marine sources.

The Pasig River had ended up dead due to many factors along with rapid industrialization processes. One of its main factors includes its location where increased economic activities actually led to its fateful deterioration, and eventual demise.

Pasig has to be more wary of the deteriorating condition of the river. To ensure the improvement of the water quality, they must focus first on improving sanitation facilities all around the areas. An effective flush system that leads to a safe sewer may help. Promotion of water filters to be used for effective water treatment to ensure safe drinking water for everyone, as well as the use of plastic bottles that can be exposed to sunlight for further improvements.

On top of this, with such industrialization processes going on, Pasig has to be careful in establishing concrete buildings for economic activity increase.
