In Syonan , they focused on teaching of the Japanese language and cultures . The Japanese language was taught in many ways. The Syonan Times , a newspaper that was published during the Japanese Occupation , published a daily column of Nippon-go lessons , which taught the readers basic Japanese greetings and how to count. The Syonan Radio also broadcasted Japanese lessons daily. Libraries were stocked with books on japan and its language and of course , culture.

Zhou Qianli:During the Japanese occupation, people faced the problems like food shortages.

(Zhou Qianli) Point: In conclusion,on 15 February 1942 ,Singapore fell to the Japanese, and people’s lives got worse.
Example :The most distinctive memory that many people shared long after the war ended was the lingering, unbearable sensation of hunger.Finding food was foremost in the minds of many due to severe shortages of basic necessities during the Syonan period. Thus, there was a food rationing system implemented .
Also during Japanese Occupation, most of the people had a very bad working condition and people feared the Japanese because of the Acts of Japanese brutality. When the Japanese ruled Singapore , people were taught in schools using the Japanese language and not in their own Mother tongues ,

Explains:Before the war, Singapore was an urban society that produced little food, depending primarily on imports for basic commodities. At the start of Japanese Occupation, the military administration seized supplies of rice ,sugar, salt, cloth and other essentials from warehouses and shops. The cessation of imports during the war also contributed heavily to food shortages. By July 1942, provision shops were depleted of imported foodstuff. Therefore there was a food rationing system implemented by Japanese government The amount of provision obtained was dependent on the size of the household concerned. Only those issued with the necessary permits, ration cards or tickets were allowed to queue at designated distribution points. Supplies, however, remained limited and unpredictable. Necessities were distributed on a first--come ,first -served basis , but often at very short notice, leaving people scrambling to queue up at the break of dawn for a loaf of bread or kati (600g) of rice .
And the allied prisoners of war were ordered by Japanese to do menial tasks outside of their camps, such as repairing and cleaning the dock facilities, water works and the airfields damaged by Japanese bombs during the invasion and were given little food. Many of them became very thin and malnourished. When Singapore was under British's domination, people viewed Singapore as their home, and they worked for British behoove, during the J.O.the workers had tough jobs with low paid,it made them became weaker and hidebound, that was a reason why people risisted Japanese.
Moreover the brutal treatment of both civilians and prisoners by Japanese soldiers has been extensively recorded in published articles on this particular period
And everyone then communicated in one language . They also promoted the propaganda to attract people such as students , etc, to believe in Japanese. It shows an aspect of the occupation which we already know from historical records as well as a more positive side of the Japanese which is not recorded so often. It also shows the courage, wit and unbending spirit of a young adult.

(Honey) Point: After the war, Singaporeans thronged Happy World and business was better than before but soon declined after the development of technology.

Evidence: The slow decline of amusement parks began when technology developed, with the availability of radios, then followed by television. By the 1980s, the amusement parks were considered outdated.

Explanation: The new cineplexes, glitzy shopping malls and game arcades had begun to attract the crowds. However, Gay World, previously known as Happy World, continued to operate until it was demolished in 2001.

Link: In conclusion, life in Singapore improved for the better as it was post-war and had advancements in technology, which led to more kinds of entertainment for people to enjoy.

(Shi Min)
Point : I can infer that how the Japanese changed the education system in Singapore and promotes its language to Singapore , through education to the public ( newspaper and broadcast ) and schools.
Evidence: Japanese focused on teaching of the Japanese language and cultures . They also taught the readers basic Japanese greetings and how to count. They also promote propaganda to attract people to believe in them and participating in cleaning and gardening of their classrooms and schools.
Explain : Education still continues and school reopens, except that now they have to follow the Japanese policy on education. The promotion of Japanese culture and language shows that the Japanese wants to gain support and build up Singapore to be part of the empire of Japan. The Japanese determination to teach the populations on their language can be seen from the broadcast and newspaper public education.
Link : Therefore, there's a change in school life during Japanese Occupation as all the students have to learn Japanese languages and activities in type.
