One of the most powerful parts of her story is her perseverance. She grew up in a rural town where education meant walking long miles to school. Instead of seeing this as a burden, she turned it into games with her siblings. That taught me how older adults often find joy and resilience in hardship. Her favorite saying, “Life is hard, but God gives you the strength to carry it,” captures her faith and strength. It also shows how culture and spirituality shape the way people view aging and challenges.

Her reflections on society were also meaningful. She remembers writing letters by hand, while her grandchildren use video calls. To her, technology is both a gift and a challenge. This shows how older adults adapt to rapid changes while still valuing personal connection. Her perspective reminded me that progress should not erase human relationships.

The memories of important events such as the Challenger disaster, 9/11, and the pandemic show how personal lives connect to history. These events shaped her outlook on safety, unity, and family. By including them in the capsule, I could see how older adults carry living history that textbooks alone cannot capture.

What I take from this project is that Aunt Digna’s wisdom is not just for our family, but for anyone willing to listen. She teaches that family, education, and kindness outlast material things. This capsule made me reflect on how we often overlook the voices of older adults. Their stories remind us that life is not measured by what you own but by the love and lessons you leave behind.
