Lots of people are focused on the fame and popularity aspect of high school. But once they graduate, they soon realize, that doesn't matter in the real world. No one will give you a job because you were a jock with a whole bunch of friends. It wasn't very reactionary, it was mainly summarizing the book without giving away spoilers. But I did agree with everything the reaction said. I even learned that King used italicised text dropped down or indented to by-pass having to say "She thought." I though that was pretty neat. I also liked the way described his book as a cookie made by a first grader.
