Electrocardiography

Electrocardiography is the process of recording the electrical activity of the heart over a period of time using electrodes placed over the skin. These electrodes detect the tiny electrical changes on the skin that arise from the heart muscle's electrophysiologic pattern of depolarizing and repolarizing during each heartbeat. It is very commonly performed to detect any cardiac problems.

DOSAGE AND CALC

So there is a problem with opening the pharmacology module. Nothing seems to be working there. So I am sending you the lesson plan that was slated for Thursday. This will at least give you an idea of what we are looking for.

The first thing you need to know is the conversions table. That is for weight (mass), volume and liquid. Doctor orders 5oz of liquid tylenol, you cannot take the power form and give 5oz in leui of this. What you are looking for is the actual dosage of the medication.
The doctor wants 700mg of acetaminophen and you have 100mg/ML liquid on hand. You would give 7ml of liquid to equal 700mg of medication.

Common Conversion Factors in Medical Dosage Calculations
As a healthcare professional, you have to convert patient weights, fluid volumes, medication weights, and more. Conversion math isn’t hard to do as long as you know the basic conversion factors. Here are the most useful ones:
Converting lb to kg and kg to lb
*lb = kg × 2.2
kg = lb ÷ 2.2
Converting mL to L and L to mL
*mL = L × 1,000
*L = mL ÷ 1,000
Converting mg to g, g to mg, mg to mcg, and mcg to mg
*mg = g × 1,000
*g = mg ÷ 1,000
*mcg = mg × 1,000
*mg = mcg ÷ 1,000

You MUST MEMORIZE THESE! It super important. This conversion table will follow you everywhere from mixing paint, taking OTC meds, diluting bleach and buying chocolate in Europe. I have starred the most important ones that are used in the application that is needed. Which is basically all of them. Also please remember that a CC is the equivalent of an ML. If your syringes only say CC on them- they are to be measured in ML orders.

Please practice the dosage calculations below.

Miss LayLa gives you several prescriptions for you to practice using the formula to calculate the dosage. Make sure you include the correct form (g, mg, mL, etc.) when making your calculations. The first one has been set up for you. Note: If the quantity (Q) is larger than 1, you may want to simplify (cancel) before multiplying.
