The extraction of hydrocarbons and the effects caused on the environment are negatively mentioned as they include the damage of marine life, the pollution of water and soil, deforestation, and as CO2 is released (with other greenhouse gasses), there is an atmospheric pollution that comes with climate change. Moreover, the comparison between this use of hydrocarbons and renewable energies is related to how ecological it is, using renewable resources amplifies the energy supply and reduces the dependence on the extraction of hydrocarbons, making it a convenient source to use and clean the environment while using fossil fuels can lead to a radical climate change and the deterioration of biomes.

Renewable energy sources produce low GHG emissions and conventional air pollution, but manufacturing and transporting them produce emissions and pollutants. Photovoltaic cells produce toxic substances that may contaminate water resources. Environmental problems related to energy production and consumption include air pollution, climate change, water pollution, thermal pollution, and solid waste disposal, fossil fuel combustion is the major cause of urban air pollution.

The extraction and use of hydrocarbons pollute soil, water and air, emitting large amounts of CO2 that aggravate climate change. In addition, the exploitation of these resources can cause significant ecological damage, such as deforestation and loss of biodiversity. On the other hand, renewable energies, such as solar and wind power, have a much lower environmental impact. They do not emit CO2 during use and do not generate air pollution, although they require large areas and may produce some waste at the end of their useful life. Despite these challenges, renewables are essential for reducing negative effects on the environment and combating climate change.

The extraction and use of hydrocarbons have major environmental effects: High greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution and risk of oil spills, which seriously affect ecosystems and human health. It can destroy habitats and consume large quantities of water. Renewable energies, such as solar and wind, generate minimal greenhouse gas emissions and have a lower environmental impact, although they may require large areas of land and specific materials that also have impacts. Therefore, the transition to renewable energies is considered essential to mitigate climate change and reduce environmental damage compared to hydrocarbons.

Extraction of hydrocarbons seem very different compared to renewable energies, since renewable energies produce WAY LESS air pollution, you could say NONE, the same happens with water pollution, it produces a minimal impact on water. In summary renewable energies produce lower environmental impact compared to hydrocarbons.

Among the impacts generated by the extraction of hydrocarbons are: damage to marine and terrestrial life, flora, groundwater contamination, damage to fertile land, and human health, among others.

Compared to other renewable energies: Solar energy requires the installation of large solar plants on large areas of land, which can lead to the alteration of local ecosystems. Renewable energies emit virtually no CO2 or other greenhouse gases during operation, which makes them much less harmful to the climate compared to hydrocarbons, which means that renewable energies offer a much more sustainable alternative with significantly lower environmental effects.

Alex Cornejo

The extraction of hydrocarbons has an incredibly negative impact on the environment and life in general, because it generates quite a lot of pollution in the area where the hydrocarbon is extracted, either due to all the gases that produce the greenhouse effect or due to the deforestation and the destruction of the habitats of flora and fauna, how toxic the components and materials they handle are. On the other hand, renewable energies generate much less damage to the environment because it is energy that comes from the environment that is renewable, such as: hydroelectric plants collect energy with the movement of water, solar energy collects energy from the sun's rays and Wind power collects energy with the movement caused by the force of the wind. Due to the aforementioned characteristics, both forms have the purpose of obtaining energy but the collection of hydrocarbons pollutes much more and uses much more natural resources than renewable energies and these can be used in the long term.

The extraction and use of hydrocarbons (such as oil, natural gas and coal) have several significant environmental effects, which contrast sharply with the impacts of renewable energy while hydrocarbons have historically been a primary source of energy, their impact . Environmental is much more severe compared to renewable energies, which present a more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative.

The extraction and use of hydrocarbons has significant impacts on the environment, including greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change, air and water pollution, soil erosion, resource depletion, and earthquakes. In contrast, renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and water produce almost no greenhouse gases during operation, cause minimal air pollution, and generally have a smaller environmental footprint. Although renewable energy also affects land and water resources, its overall environmental impact is significantly lower than that of hydrocarbons, so the transition to renewable energy is critical to reducing environmental damage and promoting sustainable development.
