<title>What Does Mathematic mean...At one point in my life Mathematics was a word that gave me a headache. I did not enjoy the classes and felt that I was constantly lost in what was being taught. As the years have gone on and I have had my own children, I realized that I needed to get rid of the negative feelings and replace them with positive ones, so that I could teach my own children when they had problems, and hopefully let them find math as a positive experience. The good news is that they both love math and are very good at it!It was not until I was in Teachers College that I had that teacher that taught math and it made sense. She would relate it to everyday life and how it fit in. She had a way of teaching it, so that it was fun and made sense. She ensured that all students understood what was going on and did the constant checkins to ensure that we were all on the same page. Yes it was Teachers College, but for me it was very important, as I would need to teach the children in my class. I wanted it to be a positive experience and one that they would carry on throughout their schooling. I have taken a lot of what was taught in this class and applied it to my own classes. Like I have said before, I learned with the whole group, small group, and closure activity together. I have lived with this model over the years and adapted it as the times have changed. I feel now that I have a comfort level once more on teaching math to my classes. I find that it is much easier to teach with these 3 part lessons to reach all my learners and their different needs.</title>
