In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe made it to a nice snowing cabin with warmth and family, because I want to think positive, because you could think negatively about this but I want a happy ending for them and seeing the lights made me think of a little christmas tree in the snow. More specifically, I believe that they were celebrating Christmas, and they were handing out presents and they were grandparents, parents, and siblings. For example, “and all at once he could see lights” (Lowry 225). Lowry shows that Jonas could see the lights of a tree, because later own they say he could see the colors. Although others might disagree that this could be a hallucination and him maybe slowly dying with a happy thought, I maintain that I think there would be a happy ending. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe saw a house celebrating Christmas because of the lights they saw.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe were taken into another dimension of space and time because obviously they were not in the regular world. This possibly was because they were in another dimension were all these things existed. More specifically, I believe that they were in another galaxy, in another dimension in space and time, where an event like the big bang occured, but traits such as color and emotion didn’t come through. For example, “Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left”(Lowry 225). Lowry shows that the community is another dimension across space and time. This could mean that Jonas escaped that dimension and possibly was granted the ability to hear music. Although others might disagree that, they went to another dimension of space and time, the author clearly tells us that they are in another dimension. I maintain that as author shows us what happened. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe were taken to another dimension in space and time, possibly even our time, because the author shows that they have been crossing dimensions during their ride.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe go to the houses because that is something Jonas is familiar with. More specifically, I believe that since Jonas is familiar with houses, he might feel safer as to if he saw something new. For example, “And all at once he ould see lights, and he recognized them now. He knew they were shining through windows of rooms” (Lowry 178). Lowry shows that Jonas knows that the lights he is seeing are houses. Although others might disagree that since it was a new place Jonas doesn’t have memories of, I maintain that obviously Jonas still has those memories of his own if he is recognizing them. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe may go towards the houses because Jonas is familiar with them.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe find another place to become their new home, because Jonas says he can hear people singing ahead, see the lights of houses, and feel that their destination is just ahead. More specifically, I believe that they find a town or other settlement where they are welcomed, and it becomes their home. For example, in the book it states, “He forced his eyes open as they went downward, downward, sliding, and all at once he could see lights, and he recognized them now. He knew that they were shining through the windows of rooms...For the first time, he heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing” (Lowry 178-179). In this quote, Lowry shows that Jonas and Gabriel’s destination is just ahead of them. Although others might disagree that the two boys die, I maintain that they live and find a new place to call home. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe find another settlement just ahead, because Jonas can see and hear the signs of civilization, and feel that his destination lies just a bit further.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe venture towards the music and eventually become safe because in the book it is common for joy to be affiliated with joy as we can see through the Giver. More specifically, I also believe that Jonas and Gabe start a life in elsewhere because of the music proving that there isn’t sameness any more . For example,”Suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him” (Lowry 178). Lowry shows that throughout his memories and wisdom he could tell that this was “elsewhere”. The music is a symbol for happiness and love which further proves that Jonas and Gabe were safe.. Although others might disagree that Jonas and Gabe died as they were very weak and malnourished, I maintain that they were okay as there were music and lights and love, a feeling virtually unheard of before Jonas’s selection.. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe were joy and received much joy because of the music which symbolized joy and happiness.

More specifically, I believe that Jonas and Gabe were able to find elsewhere . For example,¨ For the first time he heard something that he knew to be music He heard people singing¨( Lowry 179). Lowry shows that Jonas had heard people singing and herd music which he knew had to be elsewhere. Although others might disagree that it might have not been elsewhere , I maintain that he was able to find elsewhere . Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe were able to find elsewhere and live a happy life because Jonas heard music and saw twinkling lights which were not in his community .

I believe that Jonas and Gabe rode down the hill toward a house that was celebrating Christmas because Jonas had a memory about Christmas and love like the house that they are approaching. More specifically, I believe that this happened because Jonas had a memory of riding down a hill and christmas which was what happened in the book. It relates to him because he left to experience the things like love and family which is what was in the house. For example,”...life hungry for feelings, for color, for love” (Lowry 173). Lowry shows that the reason Jonas left is because he wanted to experience those feeling and not be stuck in a sameness community. . Although others might disagree that he wouldn’t go to a house of family and warmth. I maintain that he is going somewhere where there is a family waiting for him and able to give him love. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe was going to a house with a family and love for them to because Jonas had the memory of love and family which shows that he was leaving the community for those things.

More specifically, I believe that the Giver knew about this place/house and that’s why he told Jonas to leave. For example, the book states, “He would need those to help him find him the Elsewhere that they were both sure existed”(Lowry, 158).. Lowry shows that they both knew where Elsewhere was.. Although others might disagree that and might think he lived somewhere else with Gabe, I maintain that Jonas and Gabe both found a nice cabin by the woods with a family. I think this because he had here people singing and Jonas was starting to hear beyond. For example it says that “From the place he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo” (Lowry 225). This shows that Jonas had changed the community by giving them the memories he had received from the Giver. This is why I think Jonas and Gabe had gotten to elsewhere.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe passed away and entered heaven because Jonas was able to feel warm and happy, cleary there was no source of warmth anywhere nearby so the obvious answer is that Jonas was slowly dying.. More specifically, I believe that the “Elsewhere” that Jonas and the Giver kept talking about was actually Heaven. I also think the Giver knew this, and thought that the only way Jonas could actually escape was by dying. For example,”..he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only and Echo”(Lowry 179). Lowry shows that the music Jonas was hearing was actually a faint voice calling him up into heaven. Although others might disagree that Jonas actually found a place that was exactly like he imagined, I maintain that Jonas and gabriel passed away and were entering heaven. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe found “Elsewhere” because “Elsewhere” was heaven, the only place where Jonas and Gabriel could truly be free.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe meet up with the Giver, and possibly Rosemary because, The Giver’s love for the children is too strong to leave behind. More specifically, I believe that inside the house is Rosemary and the Giver because the Giver loved both Rosemary and Jonas, and I don’t think that the Giver would just let that all go. For example, “You can understand, then, that that’s what I felt for Rosemary, the giver explained, I loved her. I feel it for you too. The giver added”(Lowry 141). Lowry shows that the bond between the Giver, Rosemary, and Jonas were so strong, that there is no way they could leave that all behind. Although others might disagree that the Giver would leave the community to deal with the memories themselves, I maintain that The Givers love for the children is too strong. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe meet the Giver at the Cabin because their love for each other is too strong.

More specifically, I believe that they no longer had the energy to continued and died right when they reached elsewhere. For example, “Jonas found himself losing consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright on the sled”(Lowry 178). Lowry shows that Jonas used his final energy in order to get gabriel to safety, but in the process sacrificed himself. Though he made have reached elsewhere he would most likely be on the brink of death and because gabriel is a baby he too would probably be gone too. Although others might disagree that Jonas reached elsewhere and survived, I maintain that he died at the moment though exhaustion, starvation or freezing to death. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe died when they reached elsewhere because both boys could not possibly survive the extent that there fragile bodies experienced without prior experience.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe made it to some kind of a village that is not a community because he was hearing music and maybe in that village, someone was playing music and so Jonas heard music from outside. More specifically, I believe that he found “elsewhere” and “elsewhere” was a village far from the community he was living. Jonas got the memories of joy, warmth, love back because the place he found was a normal place with everyone having the memories. For example, “But he began, suddenly, to feel happy. He began to call happy times. He remembered his parents and his sister, he remembered his friends, Asher and Fiona. He remembered The Giver. Memories of Joy flooded suddenly” (Lowry 177). Lowry shows that because he got the memories he lost while coming to this place, he somehow found a place where memories of joy and happiness still belonged to everyone and so he found the place where he needed to go. Although others might disagree that he was dying in the snow with happy memories or already dead, I maintain that he found a good place with all the memories.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe fell and lost consciousness and were found by the people that live Elsewhere, because the residents of the houses would probably have found them and would have tried to save them. More specifically, I believe that Gabriel was weakened, exhausted, and hungry, but he was cared for; so he lived on. For example, Jonas continues to lend Gabriel memories of comfort and warmth to keep him alive. By doing this, Gabriel “...stirred against him as he began to climb” (Lowry 176). Lowry shows that Jonas gathered the strength and will to live through his lifestyle, making him invulnerable to any circumstances. Although others might disagree that Gabriel and Jonas were just fine, I believe that they had the courage and the tiniest bit of strength to be saved, maintain that they were okay throughout their entire journey. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe found hope through their travels because they had the courage to live a new life in honesty.

I believe that because it was probably a house or restaurant where they would be able to get comfort and food by going inside. More specifically there could be a kind family or person at the place that would help them and treat them to food out of kindness. Lowry shows that they basically found a place that can comfort them even though he didn’t show us the ending. Although others might disagree with me that something else could have happend I believe that the place they saw was either a home or a restaurant because usually at some restaurants they play music. This could also be a home because maye some people in the house play music and like singing. Therefore I conclude that Jonas and Gabe were met by a home or some sort of restaurant by the music playing.

More specifically, I believe that with the promise Jonas made to the giver he might still want to keep that promise and let Gabe live unlike that baby who was released. For example, “We’re almost there, Gabriel,” he whispered, feeling quite certain without knowing why” (Lowery 177). Lowry shows that Jonas has the feeling the will make it out alive and that Lois Lowry would out this statement to prove that they do make it to elsewhere. Although others might disagree that maybe Jonas and Gabe don’t make it in time due to their physical condition,I maintain that they have enough energy from the memories and feelings.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe didn't make it to Elsewhere and instead died, because when people die, most of them describe it as 'their life flashing before their eyes', as we can see with Jonas when the author writes, "Memories of joy flooded through him suddenly. He reached the place where the hill crested and he could feel the ground under his snow-covered feet become level. It would not be uphill anymore. "We're almost there, Gabriel," he whispered, feeling quite certain without knowing why." (Lowry 175). Lowry makes it very clear that Jonas had memories rush to him, like 'his life flashing before his eyes". Another example from the passage is when the author writes, “Jonas found himself losing consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright on the sled”(Lowry 178). This means that Jonas, nearing the end of his life, didn't have control over his body, as he slowly lost conciousness.

In my perspective, I imagine Jonas and Gabe sled down the hill and arrive at warm and pleasant houses during the celebration of Christmas: because the winter season brings merriment and mirth to everyone. More precisely, I believe that there could be a shift between the harsh, bitter winter and the warmth and glee of the houses of Elsewhere after the grueling travels of Jonas and Gabe. In moreover detail, they will finally experience the memories for which Jonas longed and yearned. As an exemplification, the text in The Giver writes, “He knew they were shining through windows of rooms, that they were the red, blue, and yellow lights that twinkled from trees in places where families created and kept memories, where they celebrated love” (Lowry 178). Although others may dissent that Jonas and Gabriel only face misfortune after eluding the Community, I maintain that Jonas and Gabriel’s efforts would not go to vain and that they would find the happiness and love they sought after their plight of traveling. Therefore, I deduce that Jonas and Gabe arrive at the joyful houses in Elsewhere; they will finally discover what they sought: the vast world of happiness, love, and hope.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe were going into the hospitality of Rosemary, The Giver’s daughter, because earlier in the book The Giver claimed that he was going to visit his daughter, so that must mean she is still alive and now waiting for Jonas. More specifically, I believe that since Rosemary has the power to receive, she may have to power to hear beyond as well and she could be the one singing inside the home filled with love. For example, “‘But I have another place to go. When my work here is finished, I want to be with my daughter’” (Lowry 162). Lowry shows that The Giver longs to be with the person he loves, so he could come home to find both Rosemary and Jonas waiting for him Although others might disagree that the ending could take place like this, where The Giver, Rosemary, and Jonas all reunite, I maintain that this is possible because The Giver had cared for Jonas a lot as well as he did Rosemary so what was going through his mind could only be wanting to be with them both after the chaos in the community. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe were journeying into the house where Rosemary lives because Rosemary knows exactly what the feeling of warmth and love is, so an arranged reunion for Jonas and Gabe is just what they need.

More specifically, I believe that he found the place that he wanted everybody in his community to have in their life. For example, “He knew they were shining through the windows of rooms, that they were the red, blue, and yellow lights that twinkled from trees in places where families created and kept memories, where they celebrated love”(Lowry 225). Lowry shows that He has found the memories that The Giver gave him of love and happiness in the past. Although others might disagree that this just a dream or a imagination, I maintain that this is not a dream because he is trying really hard to keep going which means he has to be doing it right then.

In my personal opinion, I believe that Jonas and Gabe passed away and reached Heaven, what they acknowledged as Elsewhere. In further detail, I think that they passed away while they were going down on the sled hill to reach Elsewhere, which is why I believe that what Jonas saw was a hallucination. The author states, “Suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him; and that they were waiting, too, for the baby” (Lowry 178). Lowry expresses the knowledge that Jonas is suddenly aware of his surroundings, even though he had lost all his strength and almost all of his consciousness. This means that Jonas must have gotten a surge of energy, most likely due to his passing. Although others may disagree with this idea, it makes sense, as for a twelve year-old boy to survive all alone in the snow with a baby is nearly impossible as both bodies aren’t strong enough for that. That is why I therefore conclude that Jonas and Gabe passed away and experienced a hallucination of all of the pleasant memories that they had once seen and wished to experience.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe have found Elsewhere because all the memories Jonas has received started from this location. More specifically, I believe that most of the memories the giver transmitted to Jonas such as the sled, snow, music, and love are evident in Elsewhere. For example, Lowry states, “He knew they were shining through the windows of rooms, that they were the red, blue, and yellow lights that twinkled from trees in places where families created and kept memories, where they celebrated lover” (Lowry 225). Through this quote, Lowry summarizes most of the memories that Jonas has received from the Giver and shows how this city contains all of the recollection. Although others might disagree that Jonas may have been hallucinating or he was slowly dying, I maintain that Jonas and Gabriel have found the city Elsewhere because memories such as music and the family gathered together during Christmas showing love and affection were all shown and made from this city. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe have founded the city they call Elsewhere because the city contains all of the memories Jonas has received during his training.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe was able to find a house that is celebrating Christmas because in the book Jonas states that he sees green, red, and yellow lights and also hears music. More specifically, I believe that they found a house with warmth because the light may indicate that there was fire in the chimney. For example, the book states “He knew they were shining through the windows of the rooms, that they were the red, blue, and yellow lights” (Lowry 179). Lowry shows that by describing the lights in rooms and how vibrant they were. The author also shows that by describing the holiday as feeling love. Although others might disagree that Jonas and Gabriel found a house celebrating Christmas, I maintain that they found house because it says that they felt warmth again as they got closer to elsewhere. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe was able to find a house celebrating Christmas because Jonas had the memories that came back to him about his parents and friends giving love to each other, This might give the memory of love and warmth as they got closer to elsewhere.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe will have two different fates because Jonas is stronger than Gabe (health-wise) in the moment. More specifically, I believe that Jonas will find some shelter and live while Gabe dies from the cold. For example, at the end it talks about how Gabe was already very weak before they climbed what I believe not to be a hill but, a mountain “Gabriel moved feebly and whimpered briefly..” (Lowry 220). Lowry shows that before they started the climb he was starving, dirty, and tired. Although others might disagree that this ending may not be true and that if one dies both die, I maintain that my ending may not be official but still is a possibility because of logic. A baby (I don't believe) can survive in the snow without the proper clothing. While jonas was trained for this with the memories. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe will have different fates because Jonas was prepared while, Gabe was not at all.

More specifically, I believe that they were released and that is how they went Elsewhere. For example, ¨…. the Elsewhere that held their future and their past¨ (Lowry 178). Lowry shows that Elsewhere is the end of anyone´s life because it says it holds their future and their past. Although others might disagree that they found a new family, I maintain that they are just seeing memories when they are in Elsewhere. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe are dead because you can only go to Elsewhere if you die or you get released.

More specifically, I believe that Jonas found elsewhere because he started to hear music and see colorful lights. For example, “He knew they were shining through the windows of rooms, that they were the red, blue, and yellow lights that twinkled from trees in places where families created and kept memories, where they celebrated love” (Lowry 225). Lowry shows that Jonas has reached the place that was always described in his memories. This place was elsewhere where there was love, and memories were made and kept. Although others might disagree that Gabe and Jonas didn’t make it to elsewhere, I maintain that they have reached elsewhere to start a new life, where they can live with emotions and memories. Lowry shows that Jonas starts to feel joy and no pain no struggles and that there was someone waiting for them which could be the past givers. Although others might disagree that they might have just joined a new community I maintain that why would people wait down there for Jonas to arrive since they never know that Jonas is coming to their community beforehand Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe died at the end because Jonas started to see everything he wanted a place with love and music which means he could have found peace.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe made it to Elsewhere, where feelings, love, and empathy do exist. Where lives are truly lived. This is because happy endings exist.. More specifically, I believe that after all that struggle, there is just no way that Jonas and Gabe wouldn’t have made it. Jonas even says, in his last moments of The Giver that he heard music, and joy, and everything that he yearned for. For example, “Suddenly, he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him; and that they were waiting, too, for the baby. For the first time, he heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing” (Lowry 225). Lowry shows that Jonas and Gabe did arrive, by sheer luck, to where they needed to go. It was their salvation. Since they wandered aimlessly, I would also call it a miracle.. Although others might disagree that Jonas and Gabe made it to their new community, I maintain that just because they were terribly weak, hungry, malnourished, thirsty, and without hope, doesn’t mean they weren’t among friends. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe made it to their desired community because happily ever afters exist, if not in the real world, but in the world where people can fly, do magic, and strive to beat the impossible.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe will eventually stop as the hill flattens because they can’t go downhill forever, and even if they did, it wouldn’t be a good end to the book. More specifically, I believe that they’re in Elsewhere right now. I think that everyone that has been released goes to Elsewhere after they’re killed and this is their afterlife. For example, (pull a quote from the text that supports your thinking). Lowry shows that, “Gabriel giggled and waved bye-bye back to him. ‘And somebody else comes to get him? Somebody from Elsewhere?” (Lowry 137). Although others might disagree that there is no afterlife in The Giver and they put the bodies down the chute just to get rid of them, I think the bodies go to Elsewhere and are put in a home with a family with a Christmas tree, and a fireplace, with presents neatly wrapped under the tree. I maintain that maybe Elsewhere is quite literally not even a place and the Giver and community adults say “elsewhere” meaning any place but here, but the community is so perfect that there would have to be somewhere else you can escape to, especially with a long adventure to pay the price. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe are in Elsewhere now and will find a home here because they have come all this way and to find such a nostalgic place Jonas had in his mind makes a perfect place of Elsewhere.

Side note: I think the Giver gave Jonas the memory of snow and the sled as one of the first ones because he knew that if Jonas wanted to be released just as Rosemary was early on in her training, he wanted Jonas to at least recognize the place he was going.

I believe that Jonas and Gabriel get to the village that they saw and heard and live there. I don’t know what they will do in the village but I imagine that they will just get there, and stay there. My reasons for thinking this way? I just think that it would be the most satisfying ending for most people. No one wants a character who went through so many hardships and not make it to the end. In fact, I feel like Lois Lowry made it sound like Jonas would make it to the village. Chapter 23 had a moment when Jonas remembered everything in his life, and it made him happy, but before that he felt pain and he wanted to stop moving forward. “But he began, suddenly, to feel happy. He began to recall happy times” (Lowry 177). This quote from chapter 23 is one part of the whole chapter that shows how far Jonas had come, and how happy he is with the path he has taken. And because of this happiness that Jonas gets, I have a hard time believing that he doesn’t get to the village and live there.

For example, “Suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead they were waiting for him; that they were waiting, too, for the baby” (Lowry 178). Lowry shows that someone is waiting for him down there. Someone who will love Gabriel and him. The warmth of the houses was anticipating them. Although others might disagree that Jonas may have lost consciousness, and that elsewhere he entered was actually heaven waiting for him, I maintain that he lives and encounters joy. Jonas will experience love in the rooms filled with joy. Jonas is thrilled that he has found this new place, and therefore would not let himself lose consciousness, especially withe the baby there. For example, “He knew that they were shining through the windows of rooms, the red, blue, and yellow lights that twinkled from trees in places where families created and kept memories, where they celebrated love” (Lowry,225). Lowry shows that there are people at the bottom of the hill by showing the reader that Jonas faded memories came back to him, that shows the reader that he is close to where the memory originated. Although others might disagree that Jonas is hallucinating from the cold instead of actually sliding down a hill because how would a sled stay in a good condition being stuck on a hill, I maintain that Jonas and Gabe were actually sledding, because hallucinations aren’t actually there so if the sled was a hallucination Jonas wouldn’t have been able to ride it.

Your draft goes here: In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe arrive in a village because for him to be able to hear the music probably means that a lot of people are singing at the same time.. More specifically, I believe that Jonas and little Gabe had arrived to a small village where many could’ve been singing for a special holiday.. For example, “He heard people singing” (Lowry 179).. Lowry shows that Jonas had heard more than 1 person sing which explains why they could’ve arrived at a village.. Although others might disagree that Jonas could’ve heard multiple people singing in one isolated house. I maintain that he made it to a village because of the bright lights and singing Jonas mentioned. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe made it to a village because could’ve heard a choir singing holiday songs.

More specifically, I believe that the story goes on with them. For example, the text reads “For the first time, he heard something he knew to be music. He heard people singing” (Lowry 179). Lowry shows that people were singing possibly outside. Although others might disagree that they might not notice him, I maintain that if Jonas could yell, and people would notice a boy and a baby. For example, “Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo”(Lowry 179). Lowry shows that it was farther than space and time, as such he was probably in the afterlife. Although others might disagree that he is just recalling memories, and that he arrives in a village. I maintain that The giver still has the memory of music, and that is just a hallucination. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe died and went to the afterlife because The giver still has the memory of music.

For example, For the first time, “He heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing” (Lowry 179). Lowry shows that these people were singing and having fun. Although others might disagree that Jonas was only lost in his memories because of the cold and exhaustion, I maintain that Jonas has lost all other memories except his own and was making new ones for himself.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe are thoughtful because Jonas didn’t want to stay in his community with nothing and wan’t to see what he had missed and what was holding him back. More specifically, I believe that Jonas had a feeling for Gabe and for his community. Although he didn’t like it and wanted to leave there was that tiny space in his heart that told him to leave and he knew he would find something truely more better. For example, “ But he began to feel happy, suddenly, to feel happy. He remembered his parents, his friends, Asher, Fiona” (Lowry 177). Lowry shows that although Jonas had all those rebelling feelings on his community he still knew that his community cared for him in a way which took everything he knew out. Although others might disagree that Jonas had hated the community and the reason he left, and wanted to adventure further, I maintain that Jonas throughout the book did show against for the community, he knew that his community was what it was and that all that life, his parents, and friends he had known as been in that community supporting and loving him. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe are thoughtful because they both had been alikeand knew they had a community which was wrong but cared for them..

This is because in the ending they describe seeing christmas lights and hear people singing, but this could als be hallucinations. For example, “ For the first time, he heard something that he knew t be music. He heard people singing” (Lowry 179). Although some might disagree that he might have been hallucing about the whole new community, I maintain that he was able to identify that he was somewhere safe with other people in a normal world.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe both perished from environmental factors because they have been traveling towards this mysterious elsewhere with lack of supplies and rest. More specifically, I believe that the houses, lights, and music Jonas was perceiving were basically hallucinations. Jonas was deprived in multiple ways, ot just sleep. However, sleep deprivation already creates a drunk like vision. For example, “ He cried because he was hungry and cold and terribly weak. Jonas cried, too, for the same reasons, and another reason as well. He wept because he was afraid now that he could not save Gabriel” (Lowry 218). Lowry shows that both children were suffering from hypothermia and hunger. I repeat, children. Even Jonas was admitting how bad of situation they were in. Although others might disagree that Jonas and Gabe did not die and found their rightful place in Elsewhere, I maintain that as much as readers would like a happy ending, there is a much higher chance Jonas and Gabe died on their journey to a place they have no idea about. Plus, Jonas didn’t have a clear future in the beginning with guidance from memories that aren’t even his. Again, this ending was made for different interpretations, so it is easy to understand all ideas. Nonetheless, the one I chose just made the most sense. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe passed away before they could finish their journey to a safer place because their already ghost of a chance was foreshadowed by environmental factors.

For example, The author writes, “He forced his eyes open as they went downward, downward, sliding, and all at once he could see lights, and he recognised them now” (lowry 178).. Lowry shows that Jonas is familiar with the sight he saw which means there is something out there and he knows from the memories he received form the Giver. Although others might disagree that Jonas might be passed out and hallucinating, I maintain that Jonas would not have been familiar and would be conscious enough to see the lights and connect to it. More specifically, I believe that Jonas and Gabe will find the people who live in that cabin and that the memories were actually the future. For example, “Using his final strength, and a special knowledge that was deep inside him, jonas found the sled that was waiting for them at the top of the hill,” (Lowry 178). Lowry shows that is was the sled, not just any sled on a snowy hill. Although others might disagree that it was a different sled, however, from the details we know it was most likely the same one. I maintain that Jonas thought of the sled as the same, therefore we can only expect it to be true. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe are in the memories rather than a different future because everything in the memories is the same as what they experienced now.

For example, “Jonas felt himself losing consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright atop the sled,” (Lowry 178). Lowry shows that Jonas is willing to go through serious pain in every way to live a life of peace and what is considered normal for us. He willed himself up so thathe and most importantly Gabe would live freely. Although others might disagree that Jonas is brave, I maintain that Jonas shows tremendous bravery for a 13 year old boy. Near the end of the chapter we learn that he finds a sled and it’s revealed that in the distance he sees a place from his memory. It’s possible to assume that we will travel to that house and find people there who will help him. For example “He heard people singing” (Lowry 178). Lowry shows that Jonas had heard people. People who were alive and well. Jonas stumbled upon people who lived outside of the community. Although others might disagree that there we not found and instead were lost forever, I maintain that at the end he finds a sled and is able to see a house in the distance as well as hear the echo of singing, which could have only been made by people.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe have found another community that exists beyond Jonas’s because Jonas hears people singing as goes downhill on the sled and see’s lights of different colors being emitted from what seemed to be rooms. More specifically, I believe that the community Jonas has stumbled upon or Elsewhere is celebrating Christmas as Jonas recollects the memory of love The Giver had given him, which was supposedly his favorite. For example, “He forced his eyes open as they went downward, downward, sliding and all at once he could see lights, and he recognized them now. He knew they were shining through the windows of rooms, that they were red, blue, and yellow lights that twinkled from trees in places where families created and kept memories, where they celebrated love”(Lowry 225). Lowry shows that in this land beyond the community that people were celebrating what The Giver had described through the memories showing that the ways of the old world that had not been genetically perfected still existed and was being practiced by people who weren't pulled into the ways of those who sought “peace” . Although others might disagree that this sight could have simply been fabricated from Jonas’s current memories as he was in great pain as was desperate and had only shreds of hope and could have subconsciously tugged the memory forward to fulfill his wanting to be right that Elsewhere existed , I maintain that Jonas did find elsewhere because he was barely able to pull the memory of sunshine out and when he did it was brief and there was no way he could pull out a memory so complex and he did feel joy but that was his own memory from his childhood. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe stumbled upon another community because there were signs that indicated that the ways of the past still existed and that Jonas was right about the existence of Elsewhere.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe make it to the houses and receive help because we saw that they could see the houses and Jonas had memories. More specifically, I believe that Jonas made it to the house, got care, and whether it was that family from the house or another family then adopted/took them in as there own kid.. For example, “Suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him; and that they were waiting, too, for the baby”(Lowry 225). Lowry shows that they was promise and possibly people that will take care of Jonas and take him in. The quote tells us that Jonas is certain that they were waiting for him and the baby. Although others might disagree that they will take him in because he is a complete stranger, I maintain that they are loving people who would gladly take in Jonas and Gabriel.. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe will be taken in by the house if not one of the other families in another house because Jonas said he was certain and there was many signs and clues to leave me reason to believe this.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe didn’t make it to that elsewhere. . More specifically, I believe that worst case scenario, Jonas imagined seeing the house in the distance due to hallucination and getting close to dying.. For example, “Jonas felt himself losing consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright…” (Lowry, 178). Lowry shows that Jonas might be going in and out of consciousness or could be already unconscious but doesn’t know it.. Although others might disagree that they might’ve made it to the warm house with all the music, I maintain that I give up. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe (restate your thinking) because (restate your own claim here using different wording than at the beginning).

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe went to Elsewhere, also known as heaven, because the book specifically explains how cold and weak Gabe and Jonas are. More specifically, I believe that as Jonas and Gabe were “walking up the hill” they were slowly going into heaven. For example, “If anything, he felt more numb, and more cold” (Lowry 177). Lowry shows that they are slowly losing their conciousness. Although others might disagree that they did reach elsewhere, I maintain that they were slowly losing consciousness and reached elsewhere, but elsewhere was actually heaven. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe passed away.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe do make it to Elsewhere because he can hear people singing. More specifically, I believe that Gabriel and Jonas are rescued by the singing citizens of that town and brought in. For example, in the last few sentences in the book, Lowry states, “ For the first time, he heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing” (Lowry 179). Lowry shows that, in the last sentences in the book, that Jonas might have found a community of people with emotions, since he has never heard music before. Although others might disagree that this is simply a hallucination caused by Jonas’s weak state, I maintain that this cannot be a hallucination, as Jonas has never heard music before. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe do make it to Elsewhere because he can hear people singing.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe had died and imagined finding Elsewhere because Jonas saw a place with light and warmth hearing music in the background in the distance but never actually reaching there. More specifically, I believe that He died in the snow because of starvation and the freezing cold. For example, “You have never been starving, he had been told. You will never be starving. Now he was” (Lowry 172). Lowry shows that Jonas has no food supply for neither him or Gabe. He soon will grow very hungry since he is using the last bit of energy he has to climb up the snowy hill carrying a baby. Although others might disagree that there is no way they survived because there are more books, I maintain that at their state in the snowy hills, they are unlikely to survive and I have read series with a different main character. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe did not survive in the end of the book because of their hunger and the blasting snow freezing them and making it harder for the to reach Elsewhere.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe lose their lives at Elsewhere because they were cold, weak, and starving. More specifically, I believe that they meet Rosemary and she helps them get the memories to the community. For example, “He and Gabriel became cold and wet, and it was hard to get dry, even when sunshine occasionally followed” (Lowry 173). Lowry shows that there was little hope left of them keeping on going. Since their strength is diminished, I didn’t think they would go on. Although others might disagree that they used their last bit of strength and arrived, I maintain that they were at their last bit of strength so they couldn’t possibly survive the wilderness. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe pass away at Elsewhere because they were freezing, tired, and hungry.

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe survived and got a place to stay because it says Jonas lost his consciousness. It is not necessary that he died. More specifically, I believe, since Jonas and Gabriel are young and have a long life to live and also Jonas due to his good deeds should have survived enjoying the fruits of his hard work. For example, When Jonas fell down, he held Gabriel and made sure Gabe was not hurt though Jonas sprained his ankle and had a lot of cuts and blood flowed through his torn pants . He then heard music and could imagine about the good things during Christmas. Lowry shows that Jonas and Gabe finally found a place to be safe from the community and the freezing snow. Although others might disagree that the statement that Jonas and Gabe could survive and stay safe. I maintain that Gabe and Jonas could have had a chance of being rescued by the good hearted citizens of that town during Christmas. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe survived and got a place for shelter and food because of the good people in the town (if it is real).

In my view, I believe that Jonas and Gabe make it to Elsewhere because the author states that Jonas can see lights and an hear music. More specifically, I believe that Jonas and Gabe make it to Elsewhere because he is near other people who can see color and hear music, which can only be found Elsewhere. Even though Jonas was losing consciousness on the sled ride down the hill, it was said that the people were waiting for him at the bottom. Because of this, it is very likely that Jonas survived. An example of this is, “Suddenly, he was aware with certainty and joy that below, ahead, they were waiting for him; and that they were waiting, too, for the baby”(Lowry, 178-179). Lowry shows that Jonas had made it to Elsewhere, where the people were waiting to welcome him and Gabe to the new, happy life that was in store for them. Although others might disagree that Jonas made it to Elsewhere, instead losing his life on the ride down the hill, I maintain that Jonas had the strength left to make it to those who would help him. Therefore, I conclude that Jonas and Gabe make it to Elsewhere because he can sense people there; people who had color, music, and love.

Although others might disagree that he might not have survived but it seems they see rooms and are in a calm place,I maintain that same idea that Jonas is alive and in a home.
