Todos los días que me fui a la escuela. Aprendí muchas cosas nuevas. Mi clase favorita era matemáticas. Mi profesora, señorita López, era muy dulce.

Mi apartamento en España estaba muy limpio. Era pequeña, pero perfecta para mí. Mi habitación favorita fue la cocina. Era todo blanco. ¡También había una ventana con una vista increíble!

Mi mamá en España estaba guapa y muy simpática. Nuestra cosa favorita para hacer era ir de compras. Mi padre era de Francia y trabajó en una oficina grande. Era muy divertido. Mi hermano fue llamado Rico. Él tenía diez años. Celebramos su cumpleaños cuando estaba en España.

En mi tiempo libre, me gustaba jugar con mis amigos. Nos fuimos de compras, jugamos futbol y viajamos. ¡Una vez, fuimos a la playa! El agua era tan azul. Era mi viaje favorito.

También me encantó cocinar en mi tiempo libre. Aprendí a hacer la empanada, la milanesa y la paella. La paella era mi favorito. Había verduras muchas. Comimos la paella en mi última noche en España. ¡Muy delicioso!

Un fin de semana en España, fui de compras con mis amigos. ¡Todo era en euros no dolares! Me decidí a comprar recuerdos para mi familia. Compré un ventilador para mi mamá por cinco euros. También compré un collar bonito para mi hermana. ¡Fue sólo diez euros!

Mi parte favorita de España fue la comunidad. Todos mis amigos eran muy simpáticos. Todos los días después de la escuela jugamos fútbol. A veces, tenemos helado. ¡No quería ir a casa!

However, Spanish allows more flexibility than English, and generally places emphasized words at the end of the sentence. The Spanish language also has masculine and feminine nouns. This differs from English in that we do not associate gender with objects. I’ve also noticed Spanish has a strong correspondence between the sound of a word and its spelling. I know stores that sell specifically meat or fish can be found in America, but they are not very common. Many things people want to buy can all be found at the grocery store. It was interesting to learn the names of stores in Spain and see how specific Spaniards can be with not only food, but other material items. The idea of a siesta also stuck out to me. How brilliant! It would be amazing to have a break mid-day where I could just sleep. I am jealous of the Spaniards that get to partake in this tradition. Life in Spain is also more social and slow paced. It seems like there are no negatives to living there. The learning/teaching style was different, but perfect for me. I was able to work at my own pace and assure my understanding of a topic before moving on. Surprisingly, I feel like I’ve been just as connected to my teacher and classmates as in a “real” class. If I were to describe Spanish II in one word it would be that one. Without conjugations, you could basically be speaking gibberish. That is why it is so important to learn and be able to apply this skill. I think I did myself the greatest favor by practicing conjugations with other online resources. I believe practice is the key to success. I think the more I review my vocabulary and grammar notes, the better I will be able to apply what I've learned in the future. Every day she reviews what we’ve recently covered and provides multiple techniques for learning. She was always available to answer questions and responded quickly. She was even more reliable than some of my “real” school teachers. I will miss such an amazing online classroom! It gave you direct access to your teacher and time to gain understanding on harder topics. The timing of the classes were perfect and very flexible with people’s unique schedules. I also found it helpful having unlimited tries on the grammar quizzes. I wasn’t as focused on getting the questions right but rather on grasping the concept. I was able to correct my mistakes which furthered my growth in this Spanish language. Considering this is not an honors class, I felt a little overwhelmed with work. Although, looking back I couldn’t suggest a single thing to change.
