 At first, my background knowledge that architecture was just about the structure, the foundation of materials (specifically the external dimension) and its relevance in the historical and cultural aspects.    First I have learned that according to Scruton that architecture is the face of the world and the idea that form follows function. In other words, practicality is determined by the form and I used to think otherwise before. Secondly, I was refreshed on the lesson about the different principles of structure namely: post and lintel system, arcuated form and the truss system. In my own point of view, I consider it as a beautiful painting because it is founded on truth in an objective sense because according to Saint Augustine that beauty is the balance of the mind, heart and soul; considering the external dimension which is about prettiness but also the internal dimension of a certain artwork. The painting’s purpose is towards moral beauty and according to Gaut (2007) that if a work of art manifests ethically good values, then it possesses in that respect a kind of beauty. Another reason I find this specific artwork beautiful is its theme is unique because it is relevant to society nowadays which serves art as an eye opener to everyone with regard to societal problems.
