I believe the concept of endless inventory is best defined as works created by artists that are collected by the listeners and every time the artist creates something new, the new item is collected for the listener's enjoyment. It can be during a specific period of the artist's career or during a certain time in the listener's life to where they collect a lot of the artist's music that they feel they can connect with.

"But why do we build collections. Perhaps we want to turn a musician's work into a living thing. We want to make it something to live around, rather than have it live around us. We want to corporealize it, give it a body and perhaps a soul"(Pg. 113).

"When we sense that a musician understands music as a process without a fixed outcome, our ears notice two things: that we may not best understand his work in one song, one album, or even one period, and also that probably believes his work may not be best understood in one song, one album, or even one period"(Pg.114).

I believe endless inventory could be counted as a musical element because the artist can make a certain type of music that they know that a certain audience with listen to and buy.

Ratliff's example of Mariah Carey exemplifies this element because she made a lot of songs that many people felt a special connection with, so they just bought her CDs and still listen to them even years later.

I personally like Travis Scott, so every time he makes a new song or album, I always instantly download it before I've even heard it. For many of his fans, they listen to him because he uses a different style than other artists, so many people gravitate to that to where they will keep on listening to his music
