Themes include: suicide (that's not a spoiler, don't worry), depression and social anxiety, disability (deafness is the obvious one but there is another kind that is portrayed), redemption, and the value and importance of being understanding and kind to one another.

In terms of the themes it addresses, it is honestly one of the most mature movies I have seen probably all year, it was also fairly progressive, showing: 

- the challenges a parent goes through caring for a child with a disability
- a mixed-race couple 
- cyberbullying
- and a fairly accurate portrayal of the long-term effects certain things can have on people’s overall wellbeing

It's slightly over dramatic at times but not unrealistically so. It also very well portrays what it is to be a teenager and young person, and both the joys and challenges of going to school with other people who are still learning who they are and how to be in the world. What I appreciated about it was its sincerity of how it handled each issue it addressed. They were all treated seriously and respectfully, and in my opinion, represented quite accurately. That's notable and worthy of praise.

The movie’s name, A Silent Voice, is very telling. It speaks not only to what the world is like for people who are deaf, but also thoughts and feelings that go unsaid. When you actually take the time to speak with people who have disabilities, you realize there is a lot about their experience that they deal with, but don’t often talk about. Life is different for them, and they have desires, preferences, and aversions, even if their disability makes them different in some ways to other people.

The movie does a good job of showing that this is true for everyone, and showcases the human common ground between the characters whether they are young or old, or have disabilities or not. Is it a good-feeling movie? At times. But it also addresses some pretty heavy stuff. However, the beautiful artwork, subtle (but not overdone) comedic elements and the joyful moments help balance that out.

The movie is about Barry B. Benson, a bee who just graduated from college, is disillusioned at his lone career choice: making honey. On a special trip outside the hive, Barry's life is saved by Vanessa, a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans actually eat honey, and subsequently decides to sue them. 

To start off, the movie that I picked may seem like a joke in hindsight, and to set things straight this is not my favorite movie. Hearing this you may ask yourself "why did you pick this then?", one of the reasons is; being fully aware that this is a kid's movie that I'll only watch for entertainment with friends, it really left me with an impression that still lasts to this day which I didn't expect. In a way, I think that this movie is a huge metaphor for life. The movie starts with the protagonist and his friend graduating from their school and actually picking a job, and with barry knowing that he'll be working for life in 1 job he aspired to take a "step" outside the hive and go with the jocks to collect honey. Just in this scene, it suggests to the watchers (who are mostly kids) that it's ok and probably rewarding to step out of your comfort zone or the things that you already got used to, to venture out and explore the world. With barry venturing out he met some people and saw honey's that other beehives made being collected and sold without their consent, with this knowledge he raged in misery planning to take action and file a lawsuit against the big companies that harvested the honey. In this part, it shows us that even if we're up against powerful people or giant corporations if we're in the right we'll win and we should appeal to their mistakes, we just need to have the courage and evidence to do it. After they won the lawsuit a lot has changed; flowers dying, companies closing, people losing jobs, bees having nothing to do, and nowhere to go except their beehives, the protagonist saw that filing and winning that lawsuit in the first place is wrong and it didn't benefit anyone and he fixed it by making everything return to normal. This part shows that taking action without prejudice on its possible consequences might be troublesome and we should take care in making our decisions.

Aside from the serious things in the movie, I had lots of laughs with my friends when watching the movie

Another great lesson from the film is the importance of persistence and perseverance.
