* A better life for the poor
* To restore China's power
* Development in their economy.

Mao had many challenges to face if he wanted to have these three main goals. People needed to be fed, clothed, housed, and educated. Farming and industries were interrupted. The amount of land they got was very little too.
The Communists wanted the government in control of everything. Peasants would also get their fair share of their crops so they can feed their family.
