Daniel One important place to me isn't a specific region of the world so much as a place I used to go when I was a kid; every summer I'd go to a summer camp in New Hampshire that my father went to in his youth. It always meant a lot to me to see how my parents grew up in a time and place with less modern structures and less access to technology, and helped me realize how fortunate I am to live when and where I do.

I have a small hand-blown glass angel that I got at Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach. This represents me because as I picked out this angel the person who ran the booth (her name was Muffin) said "are you sure you want that one, I messed up when I was blowing it, see - its two different colors" but the fact that it was two different colors was the reason why i wanted it. This angel sits on my desk and reminds me that its our flaws that make us who we are :)

Sofia- The beach! I know it sounds cliche but growing up in so cal the beach has become one of my favorite places to be. One of my favorite activities is surfing and because of this the beach in the morning has become my happy place :)

One place that is important to me is Fresno because during New Year's, my family travels there to see our relatives on my dad's side. Fresno is where they started during the time that my grandparents and their relatives immigrate to America. My immediate family that lives in Southern CA, is one of the many branches that lead back to Fresno.

One object that represents something about me is a lapis lazuli pendant I got a year or two ago. It means a lot to me even though it was a cheap little thing I picked up in a gift shop because of what I did with it. I'm in classical voice and have been taking classical voice education for years, and it desensitized me to singing. I'd started to grow distant from the art because I'd been inadvertently taught to see it as work. However, one of my juries I decided to sing a song from a show I liked and kept the pendant in my pocket as good luck. I had a great time, and what's more, the conservatory director said he loved the song. That pendant helped to remind me how much I love my art.

Definitely strawberries in general. October 15th, it was the birthday of my mothers sister. She died in a fire that started from a Christmas tree, that burned down their house. In a sense its part of the reason why I try to always live in the moment, as she was only a teenager. So I try my best to do the most I can, and to develop my skills as much as possible. So I don't have to worry about my time running out.

Christmas because every year our family hosts the big family Christmas celebration, and all my life it gave me a sense of identity and responsibility when everyone comes over to our house and we host. My mom gives me things to do to prepare the food, set up, decorate etc., and it's always the best day of the year, hands down, being with our entire family and sharing our times with laughter and really good food!!
