allegory- a story that has two levels of meaning
The main allegory in this book is the message of friendship. I think the author relayed this message by using unnamed characters and certain event within the book. The unnamed characters symbolize certain human characteristics. For example, the king represents authority and the rose symbolized love. An event that happened in the book that had a greater significance is when the prince made the pilot a friend. The prince unwilling made the pilot a friend when he asked him to draw a picture. This represents friendship and how you can end up becoming the greatest friends with a person you never expected you would be.

The rose is used to symbolize the love and relationships we have when we are young. In the beginning, the little prince is amazed by the flower, and says she's beautiful. However, after some time, she begins to torment him with her vanity. Reflecting on this, the little prince says, "I was too young to know how to love her." Relationships can be like this, where they are amazing at first, but when you start to know more about them, you get annoyed. Him saying he was too young to love her shows that when we are young, we picture love and relationships as perfect, when really this is hardly the case.
