The singer is conveying that her spouse should not be dependent on her because she "ain't his mama." He should be self reliant because in the real word you have to be seen as an individual. The individual has "the power that resides within," himself to be in control of his own life. "Ain't your mama" represents the need to not rely on others and to start believing in yourself.
