Today there are a growing number of males who are increasingly concerned about their appearance. Young boys today, like young girls, do harbor self-conscious about their body, to an extent, and it is an increasing problem. But overall, I think that when they emerge from school in the real world is when the pressure is at its greatest. This is in part due to media, peers, and society. In fact media is one of the biggest problems in today's society pushes for men's bodies to be perfect, as Canada's Natural Health and Awareness Magazine talks about the issues of this, “ Role of the media in the rise of the notion of body perfection among men; Abnormalities and disorders which manifest men's consciousness and awareness on their body image” (Tiessen). This research shows men become more self conscious due to media and show how men are supposed to be but really they come in all ways and each need to be accepted the same in society.

Young boys today, like young girls, do harbor self, consciousness about their body, to an extent, and its an increasing problem. For example "More than four in five men (80.7%) talk in ways that promote anxiety about their body image by referring to perceived flaws and imperfections, compared with 75% of women"(Campbell 1). This research shows that there is a substantial amount of guys that you possibly know that has low self esteem and it despite some beleifes people have has a bigger amount than women
. But, overall, i think when when they emerge from school in the real world is when the pressure is the greatest due to having to finding a job, to college. This is part due to media, peers, and society.

Today there are a growing number of males who are increasingly concerned about their appearance. Young boys today, like young girls, do Harbor self-consciousness about their body, and it is an increasing problem. In fact a national sample of adolescent boys, published in the January issue of JAMA Pediatrics, reveals that nearly 18 percent of boys are highly concerned about their weight and physique. They are also at increased risk for a variety of negative outcomes: Boys in the study who were extremely concerned about weight were more likely to be depressed, and more likely to engage in high-risk behaviors such as binge drinking and drug use. The playing field has nevertheless leveled in the last 15 years, as movies and magazines increasingly display bare-chested men with impossibly chiseled physiques and six-pack abs. “The media has become more of an equal opportunity discriminator,” says Lemberg. “Men’s bodies are not good enough anymore either.” Overall, when they merge from school in the real world is when the pressure is at its greatest. This is it in part due to media, peers, and society.
