MY TAKEAWAY

Soil is the foundation of everything, and life depends on soil. Soils have a crucial role in agriculture, as is widely recognized. We wouldn't be able to develop plants, such as food crops, without adequate soil, which is essential for the survival of both animals and people. Soils provide the nutrients, water, oxygen, and root support that our food-producing plants require to develop and thrive. Water is an essential element for agricultural production and plays a role in food security. In agriculture, water is used for irrigation, spraying, drinking water for livestock, and washing down livestock buildings. The struggle for water resources is predicted to increase as a result of population expansion, urbanization, and climate change, with a particular impact on agriculture. We may take soil and water for granted since they are so common. We must remember how essential it is to our survival.

MY TAKEAWAY

Water and soil resources are extremely important in human life, affecting biodiversity, agricultural industries, climate change, and other factors. Soil is an important factor that protects and supports plant life by providing fresh oxygen, nutrients, and food for animals and people. Water, on the other hand, is the most indispensable role of any ecosystem and of the earth itself. Water covers around 71 percent of the earth's surface, hence it is so important. It also helps in the regulation of human temperature, food digestion, and the distribution of nutrients in all parts of living organisms. Therefore, we cannot survive or exist without these resources. We rely on these resources for our survival, which is why each of them should be protected and human activities that harm our ecosystem should be avoided.

Water is a necessary component of a healthy, productive soil. It binds and secures physical particles in the soil structure and transports natural chemicals and necessary trace element nutrition to plants. Plants cannot develop without water, and all plants require at least some water to thrive. Understanding the natural processes of climate and weather, as well as managing complex and often contradictory physical and environmental aspects, is necessary for maintaining the availability of water to plants and guaranteeing healthy, sustainably productive soils.

Soil and water are natural resources for the agricultural production system. Anthropogenic and adverse natural activities are the major factors for the deterioration of natural resources. Among the various degradation processes, soil erosion is one of the serious threats for the deterioration of soil and water resources. agricultural practices accelerate the soil erosion process. Similarly, increased exploitation of groundwater resulted in depletion of groundwater level. Hence, the holistic management of soil and water resources is indispensable for agricultural sustainability as well as for the protection of the natural ecosystem. Development and adoption of improved technologies, judicious use of natural resources, and effective management practices are the need of the hour for protection of soil and water from degradation. - JABAGAT, MARY JOY L.

Soil is an essential resource and a vital part of the natural environment from which most of the global food is produced. Soil and Land is increasingly recognized as playing a fundamental role in the quality and availability of our water supply. Soil, Land and Water are natural resources that help to produce food and fiber for humans. They also maintain the ecosystems on which all life on Earth ultimately depends. Soil mediates many of the ecological processes that control water and air quality and that promote plant growth and it provides anchorage for roots, hold water and nutrients. Soils are home to a myriad of micro-organisms that fix nitrogen and decompose organic matter, and armies of microscopic animals as well as earthworms and termites. Also, land supports wild life, natural vegetation, transport and communication activities.

MY TAKE AWAY

● Water and Soil play important role to our invironment, water is an essential constituent of healthy productive soils. It is important in nutrient management. In addition soil water provides nutrients to the plants to uptake to sustain all life on earth.

I learned about;

Water is distrributed through out the earth either surface or subsurface. Agricultural intervention is a natural flow of surface waters their usual activity is to distribute water for thier crops also known as (irrigation). Agricultural sector affects natural movement, distribution, and quantity of water resources. Contamination is also possible due to the use of pesticide that might infiltrate from soil to the groundwater or neearby rivers. Mining can also affect our running waters and groundwaters. Piling of dug, unused materials can be eroded in nearby valleys, on the other hand open pit and underground mining can contaminate fresh underground mining. Urban and Industrial developement affect the quality of our water resources because they compromise proper and safe design over material costing. Modification of river valleys a man made alteration it alters natural movements and distribution of water resources on and beneath the surface.

Humans is considered as consumers but nothing that we know of that we are also affecting our water resources by mismanagement of waste. Soil quantity and quality are very important. There is one imptortant characteristic of soil (soil erosion) it form when these activities occur mountan biking, climbing, and mining these affects the quality and quantity of the soil. Agricultural does not only affects water only but also earths soil and animal, soil becomes erodible soil which might lead to nutrient imbalance and animal grazing too it reduce the vegetation of the land that makes soil loose and erodible. Also logging and mining affects our quality and quantity of the soil. It is important that we have to take care our environment such as soil and water etc. That would be a big loss if we not.

Soil water supplies a pool of dissolved nutrients that are readily available for plant absorption, in addition to maintaining all life on Earth. As a result, maintaining optimum soil moisture levels is critical.
Because most activities that release nutrients into the soil require both water and air, a healthy balance between soil water and soil air is crucial in nutrient management. In nutrient management, soil water is very significant. Water is a gas, liquid, and solid material that is made up of the chemical components hydrogen and oxygen. Under normal conditions, water exists as a liquid on Earth's surface, making it important for transportation, leisure, and as a habitat for a variety of plants and animals. Water is essential for the survival of all creatures and plants, and the human body is made up of more than three-quarters of water. Water is used by living things to transport nutrients and waste away from their bodies. Water also aids in the digestion of food and keeps organisms cool, among other vital functions. - FONTEJON, PEARLYN L.

Good Day! Let us talk about the very importance of soil and water. The essensials or importance of water cannot be overstated in addition to sustaining all life on our beloved Earth, soil water provides a pool of dissolved nutrients that are readily available for plant uptake. It is therefore, important to maintain proper level of soils moistures in all soils, natural and agricultural. Furthermore, Soil is a very crucial or I ought to say super Important and a vital part of the natural environment from which most of the global food is produced. Soil is the very foundation of the basic ecosystem. It helps all of us in regulating our beloved earths temparature as well as green house gases. Soil supports plant growth by providing them with oxygen which allows them to live and grow. Also, The presence of water is essential for the all life on Earth, including the lives of plants and organisms in the soil.

There is an important link between soils and water, the quality of our water being closely linked to the quality of the soils. There are several stages in the interaction of water with soil. Firstly, it enters the soil through a process known as infiltration – the higher the rate of infiltration, the more water is soaked up by the soil, and will be available to plants. Also, less water will run off the surface, eroding the soil, and washing away nutrients. Secondly, water is stored in the soil and released when required by plants - the excess water drains freely out of the soil, taking with it dissolved and suspended material in a process, known as leaching.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

In order to create, we are destroying something in some way. This statement is especially true in progress and development. We, humans, always yearn for efficiency. Proof of that is our smartphones, a device that allows us to know the date, schedule an alarm, send an e-mail, etc., without having to access the physical counterpart of each, i.e. calendars, alarm clock, and sending a letter. Efficiency is the reason why progress is being made.

Urbanization is an effect of the development journey, this includes building infrastructures and overall expansion of urban areas. This has many effects on our environment including water and soil quality. You see, in order to create, we must destroy. This applies to urbanization. We get raw materials from our environment, be it sand, wood, or rocks; We use machinery that produces pollution which will certainly affect our water and soil quality. We are destroying something just as important, if not more, on our way to progress and develop. While this may turn into a moral dilemma of “Does the cause justify the means?”. It does not necessarily mean that we have to choose a side but instead, provide a solution that would satisfy both.

In conclusion, we are simultaneously creating and destroying. But it isn’t like we cannot do anything for the good effects to outweigh the bad ones. If we want change, it should start with ourselves. That is why we need to raise awareness about water and soil quality and why it is important to be protected, learn about compliance, and as a society, find more solutions that will help reduce the bad effects of our development to minimal and still progress and develop.

In this lesson I learned that water is very essential for all living things because it give us life and help us to live long. But we as human do have a lot of activities that can affect our water resources. Especially in mining and agriculture, in agriculture it can affect the natural movement, and distribution of water resources. In mining, it can affect 2 sectors, our running water and groundwater by the metal contaminition and other mine waste.
Now is soil, it is also essential especially in plants to grow healthy, regulates the climate, stores and can be use in water filtration. Soil can be altered by soil erosion, mining, biking, and walking. Main reason for soil erosion is tiling and loosening soil for plants crop that can happen in agriculture, it not only affect water but also soil.
Also in this lesson tell us that we humans forget how to save our environment and keep destroying it. But their some people who's still trying to do their best to save what we near to lost here on earth. So we better protect and save our natural resources.

Soil is comprised of several intrinsic physical components, in varying quantities. Mineral particles and aggregates consisting of clay, silt, gravel and sand organic matter derived from decaying plants and animals, live micro-organisms such as bacteria, minute fungi and earthworms and oxygen. The fifth component of soil, critical to soil formation and health, is water. Water enters soil both downwardly, though precipitation, or it is drawn up from deposits in underlying layers of rock or subsoil. This movement has the effect of binding the minerals together as it occupies the microscopic porous spaces between the mineral particles. As the water moves it facilitates the transportation of the micro-organisms and dissolved chemical nutrient such as nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and carbon, which are essential to root development and plant growth. The importance of water cannot be overstated in addition to sustaining all life on Earth, soil water provides a pool of dissolved nutrients that are readily available for plant uptake. It is therefore, important to maintain proper levels of soil moisture in all soils, natural and agricultural.

We cannot build a house without a base, and that base is the soil. We cannot build a house without materials such as concrete and woods and those foundations are grown from soil. Water, when it comes to our body, we need water to digest the foods we consumed and get rid of waste. Water are used for various aspects. Therefore, it is really important the we protect these two: soil and water. We must reduce the wasting of these resources and we should be responsible in maintaining them. Though some activities involving them that could destroy them are inevitable, then there could be other ways in which we can protect it. Water is abundant but wasting water is a hard no. Soils are degrading so we should protect it. Without these two, we won't even exist.

What is the significance of soil? Plant development, human nourishment, and water filtration all depend on healthy soils. Soil aids in climate regulation and stores more carbon than all of the world's forests put together. Our survival depends on the health of our soils. Soil is essential for human survival. Soil is not only a source of nutrients and water for plants, which provide one of humankind's key sources of nutrition, but it is also a water reserve. A human cannot survive without oxygen and water. This is similar to a life cycle, in which soil is the most important source of nutrients. Hundreds of billions of living organisms call the soil home. They are always at work, assisting in the creation of healthy soil for plant growth. They also eat bacteria, fungus, and protozoa, and aid in the release of nutrients from these organisms for use by plants.

Soil, we all walk on it, but what is it? Commonly, soil is defined as a living (always changing) mixture of organic and mineral solid material, gases, and water. The ideal soil composition is 50% solids (organic and mineral) and 50% pore space that is filled with both gases and water. Soil is a medium in which life is sustained through plant growth, the recycling of matter and nutrients, and the purification and cycling of water. Soil can act as a sponge to purify water, and thus plays a role in water quality. However, soil is fragile and improper management can throw the ideal soil composition out of balance. This may happen over time in some agricultural fields, leading to a loss of nutrients and sediment. Thankfully, farmers are natural stewards of the land, and can implement conservation practices that shift soil composition back into an ideal proportion, making the soil healthy.

Water-holding capacity is controlled primarily by soil texture and organic matter. Soils with smaller particles (silt and clay) have a larger surface area than those with larger sand particles, and a large surface area allows a soil to hold more water
And thats why soil and water are very important for us.

Water and soil are both important to us, without water we are dehydrated right now if no soil there's no plantita and no supply of oxygen to help people to breathe and the world will be so polluted. Soil - It supplies critical nutrients, water, oxygen, and root support, all of which aid plant growth and development for food production. Soil is the foundation of food systems, as well as the location where all food-producing plants grow. Water is essential to life. People require water to survive no matter where they are. Not only is water 60% of the human body, but it is also required for the production of food, clothing, and computers, the movement of waste, and the health of both humans and the environment. So both soil and water are important no matter what because for me I cannot see the world without those.
