I think the 3rd person perspective could make the reader almost feel kind of like an angel. Because people believe angels are watching us from above, and 3rd person is told from the narrators point of view.

Because of the authoring using 3rd person limited, it prevents the readers from knowing exactly how the angel feels (as well as other characters) only giving us the limited perspective of P and E (can't spell their names), like we are experiencing this phenomenon through them without much outside emotions.

The point of view in the story lets the reader know what the people are thinking, but not what's going on in the old mans head. This helps solidify the mysterious nature of the old man and makes the reader question the old mans purpose

1. The rising and falling of the tension and the continual answering of questions (the doctor checking the angel's heartbeat, the ill coming to the town) keeps the reader invested until the end of the story.
2. The 3rd person perspective allows the reader to better see the town's shortcomings and flaws without being bogged down by personal reasoning as it would be in 1st person.

The story is written in 3rd person omniscient limited, this affect the story because we don't know how everyone in the story feels or what they are thinking, I think that is we got the POV of the angel then we would have felt worse for it.

I think that the use of 3rd person omniscient in this story takes the reader in sort of an overview of what happened throughout the story rather than 1st person which would have taken the reader through a person's perspective.
