Warren discussed many issues related to the school-to-prison pipeline and zero tolerance policies. What are some things you may have experienced, or even just witnessed, in relation to these things in your schooling experience? And did your school experience seem to change in this area as zero-tolerance policies began to be lifted in other areas of the country?

In chapter 6, the author explains how this group is organized and explains "VOYCE students were not necessarily "A" students" (158). Why do you think this is important? is there a relationship between grades and being involved in this type of movement?

In chapter 6, it explains the beginning of VOYCE and how they plan to help the drop out crisis. It states that at one of the schools there was a percentage of less than 50% of those who graduated high school. What outside factors would make a student want to drop out?

In Chapter 1, Warren mentions the inequality that low-income community members face. Especially in places like the school system. There was funding put into the local police department instead of the African American school system for a better education. Is this fair? How could the community try to help the children get funding for a better education?

Chapter 6 talks about VOYCE, a youth led activist group that formed to create their own solutions to injustices they were facing through their school systems and advocate for changes. It is now a fairly common practice for many schools to have their own student government where students advocate for the student body as a whole to their school principals about changes or policies in the school. Do you have any experience with anything like this and do you think it would be beneficial to make this type of organization a requirement for all school systems?
