Lesson Title: D-Day: A Comprehensive Review
-
Presenters: Andrew Lee, Nick Linn, Bengy Gonzalez, Liam Barnum, Sasha Creighton
-
AP World Key Concepts: See Standard 2 on the Project Overview Sheet (WWII)
-
Essential Question: What were the key factors, players, outcomes, and influences of D-Day on WWII?
-
Key Vocabulary: amphibious, Operation Bodyguard, Operation Overlord, Atlantic Wall, Czech hedgehog
-
Hook/Interactive Activity (About 6 Minutes): A "Make Your Own Decision" activity, where we ask the class to make decisions regarding the strategy and D-Day. After we present each scenario to the class, we will follow up with a vote and discussion about why the class made their decision. Then, we will present the class with what actually happened during D-Day and what may of theoretically happened if any of the other choices had actually been implemented.
-
Procedure for Delivery of Content (8 Minutes): A Google Slides presentation going over the main ideas of this event (see Categories for Facts).
-
Closing (1 Minute): Ask if the class has any questions, maybe directly answer the essential question.
-
Reflection: The project went very well. The interactive activity took way longer than expected, however discussions that occurred during the activity were very thought provoking and seemed to help the class acquire a better understanding of our essential question. The presentation following the interactive activity wrapped up any loose ends that needed clarification. One thing that we could of improved on throughout this project was communication throughout the group. Through proper communication, the time issue regarding our project could have been avoided. Overall, there were no major problems that developed throughout this assignment and the class presentation was a success.
*All times for each section of the presentation are all estimations
