She specialises in creating physical works using a mixture of traditional sculptural techniques and novel technologies. Questioning how people might respond to the possibilities of our body as another everyday material and how far can we push our malleable bodies while still being accepted by society? 

'Transfigurations' depicts designs for potential body enhancements that have been surgically implemented. Each modification is put in place to imagine how these techniques could ‘solve’ a potential future problem for the baby, ranging from medical to environmental to social mobility issues, but at what physical, mental, social and economic cost?

In a future where plastic production has to be reduced for economic and environmental purposes. A new alternative had to be made to make up for a material that we had become highly dependant upon. Bioplastics are being researched but are still extremely un-cost effective with hight fuel consumption. If we could use synthertic biology to get carnivorous plants to produce resin, like trees do. The resin could be produced and catalysed when the plant is triggered to produce its digestive enzymes. This way whole products could be made and produced in the plants jaws.

E. chromi is an early collaboration between artists/designers and scientists in the emerging field of synthetic biology. In 2009, seven Cambridge University undergraduates spent the summer genetically engineering bacteria to secrete a variety of coloured pigments, visible to the naked eye. They designed standardised sequences of DNA, called BioBricks™, and inserted them into E. coli bacteria. Each BioBrick™ part contains genes from existing organisms, enabling the bacteria to produce a colour. By combining these with other BioBricks™, bacteria could be programmed to do tasks for humans. Their invention, which they called E. chromi, won the Grand Prize at the 2009 International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM).
