Ch.8 Character change:

"He had become like a child, weak, timid, vulnerable....his voice was tender."(Wiesel 100)

This is a character change because in the beginning of the book, his father was strong and seemingly insensitive to many things. He is now tender and soft hearted; he also finally has love for his son and tells him to leave him to die so that Elie can go on and live.

Ch. 8 figurative language

"Like a wild beast, I cleared a way for myself to the coffee cauldron." (Weisel 101)

This is a simile because Elie is saying like a wild beast, although he is not actually a wild beast. he was merely comparing himself to one.
