This is a pro slavery cartoon because it shows how slaves are being treated with respect on the left side. They look like they are having fun. You could also see that peoples facial expressions are very happy. The old man is giving a chair that has the cane and they are all dancing on the other side. The cartoon is showing what happens if you get wages and work in factories its showing how you could die if you work in a factory. this shows how a women is dying on pile of hey this shows that African Americans have a better chance at slavery.

"The rich inheritance of justice, liberty, prosperity and independence, bequeathed by your fathers, is shared by you, not by me. The sunlight that brought life and healing to you, has brought stripes and death to me."

Fredrick Douglas shows us how slavery is terrible because as he says that bequeathed by your fathers, is shared by you,(white people) and not me as he is black " has brought stripes and death to me" meaning imprisoned people. when he says others he knows that people have no equal rights when he says"other" meaning the other half African Americans. For example that they do not have a right to freedom of speech, marry who they want and even a right for good education. so in general slavery is just wrong for the people because how cant someone not even speak out that's a violation of their right. Not even a thing that people should go through so for my ending that just wrong and cruel.

“The experience of the past fifty years...shows us the slaves tripling in numbers—slaveholders monopolizing the offices and dictating the policy of the Government—prostituting the strength and influence of the Nation to the support of slavery here and elsewhere—trampling on the rights of the free States, and making the courts of the country their tools. To continue this disastrous alliance longer is madness. The trial of fifty years only proves that it is impossible for free and slave States to unite on any terms, without all becoming partners in the guilt and responsible for the sin of slavery. Why prolong the experiment?”

William Lloyd Garrison is abolitionist radical. He is saying that the North should leave the union. He does not want to compromise or work with the evil southern states who believe in slavery. He does not want to be responsible for the sin of slavery by associating with the South. The south would see this as a dangerous cause because Garrison states that he wants to end slavery when the only way that the can make money

”No Union with slaveholders.” As a mere expression of the abhorrence of slavery, the sentiment is a good one; but it expresses no intelligible principle of action, and throws no light on the pathway of duty......

This quote shows the limitations of the southern argument that all abolitionists are dangerous radicals. This quote was said by Fredrick Douglas he himself was a slave who moved to the north to become a free abolitionist. He did not believe in using methods of extreme violence to end slavery he believed that it was the legal right of every human living in America to be free and have the liberties stated in the constitution. Fredrick Douglas supports the northern counter argument that slaves deserve freedom and to achieve that no part of America can allow men to be slaveholders.
