I can tell students are stressed out and I feel bad when they don't earn a high grade, but I want to be fair to the other students when assigning grades/want to follow the guidelines set out by the head instructor. I'm having a hard time finding ways to better support students who are struggling to grasp the concepts. There are a lot of assignments with dense texts from which we expect students to extrapolate concepts we have discussed in class. Despite offering extra office hours and providing additional resources, some students continue to fall behind. They either don't seek help when they need it or seem overwhelmed by the coursework.

My students find the flipped classroom structure in lecture and overall teaching style of the lecture incredibly frustrating. I have been trying to find a way to help them manage the large workload while trying to keep them motivated throughout the semester. How can I spark interest in the students when they all feel very discouraged? How can i help the students find order through all of the material?

I struggle with thinking on my feet when I get thrown a tricky question. How to address a question that you might not know the answer without sounding clueless. Whenever I dont know an answer to a question, I`m concerned what the students might think (especially when I was TAing a new course that I`m not familiar with).

I struggle with getting students to engage in class and with the material. I have been contemplating how hard I should have to try to get students to be engaged versus how much is on them as the students since it is their education. Trying to get my students to think and engage critically on discussion topics.

Needing to give students a lot of attention in the sense of why are you missing class? why are you missing assignments? why are you not paying attention? I think that sometimes students are just not interested. And you can tell. I find it hard to talk to students about too personal things like that.

Figuring out how much help to give the students in a lab setting or with a problem set without giving away too much that I just give them the answer
