This source tells me that the lives of teenagers in Singapore was unhappy towards the British. Although they accepted the fact that the British was superior, but the people thought that the British's attitude and behaviour was bad.

The evidence is that the students in the photo all had to attend Japanese lessons, as other language lessons were not available. This implies that it was hard for them to understand and comprehend the language as it was brand new to them.

Yet, although the war brought about many changes in their lifes, there were still the good-old things that exist. These includes their daily needs and necessities, as well as the opportunity to attend their nearby schools.
