My thoughts and feelings I’m having is I’m slowly sharing the worry she has. I’m rooting for her even though I know the end is decided. It’s hard to see her so confident, knowing what’ll happen to her anyways.

“Why do grownups quarrel so easily, so much, and over the most idiotic things?”. This quote honesty is a normal thing to think but is heartbreaking at the same time. I guess I relate this to what happens in my own home and it just sucks that it’s a universal thing, you know?

It’s small, but still confusing. In the room and on the back of the book it refers to the safe house as “The Annex” but in the book it’s said “Annexe”. It’s a small thing but just a but confusing why it’s spelt differently, and how it was translated that way. I wonder if it was written as “The Annexe” or the annex maybe meant something else? Idk 🤷‍♂️

Something that surprised me is I learned that the book was largely edited by her father, and I mean that’s cool and probably for good reasons but I hope that the text is still as accurate it can be. I personally researched some of the things that were removed and it mostly makes sense, like talking about how sex would feel, or dumb things like her father likes fart jokes (why would you remove that? it’s not that built of a deal Mr frank youll be dead soon anyways). Additionally, how many different versions of the book there is. I’m interested in reading some of the different versions and seeing how they compare to one another.

A random topic, but I didn’t know that April fools has existed for so long. I was under the impression it started in the mid-late 20th century but I find it interesting that it’s existed longer. I just thought it was too dumb of a holiday to be around for THAT long.

I believe the diary has a lot of memory moments, reflecting on past things and life before the annex. Some moments include when she was thinking about her grandparents, and where they could be, and looking at the past freedom she had and how envious she is of her younger self.

It’s annoying me how she’s ONLY thinking of Peter. I feel like that’s the subject of the whole book now and it’s just annoying. I feel it isn’t really progressing and it’s just stale.

“We miss so much here, so very much and for so long now” That just seems so sad, and heartbreaking. It must be so hard to live like that. I felt like that for a good chunk of my young years and it felt terrible. I know it’s not anything in comparison to what she’s going through but it definitely resonated with me.

Something that confused me was how in page 99, though a while back, Mrs. Vann Dan was able to vacuum. It didn’t explain that much and if they can barely speak how on earth did she vacuum. Especially old ones. I bet it sounds like a particle accelerator.

I find it cool she referenced one of her old entry’s. I feel it was quite interesting and the book itself, whoever it was edited by, added to look back at it so you could see where it’s from. It really surprises me how she speaks to “Kitty” like a friend and how she keeps it up. It’s creative and an interesting thing to read.

I was surprised by how long she kept talking about STRAWBERRIES. And right before she died as well. It just seemed useless and kinda funny.

It seems like Anne was so deeply in love with Peter and then towards the end we didn’t hear a peep about him. Kinda confusing. I mean it’s like she knew she was gonna die and tried to close a chapter.

I believe words of the wiser is a possible one, like from her father. It changed Anne’s full perspective and made her feel really bad and upset about what he sent him, and that was the start of her noticing how much her parents really care about her and/or need her.

Quite interesting how someone was caught hiding Jews. I guess it was a common thing, but I wonder how they got the news and why they put that on the radio if it was from there? I mean that seems like something they’d want to keep under wraps so it isn’t encouraged, or they said it to discourage people from hiding Jews…I’m not sure.

The invasion is quite crazy, honestly. I know they have some sort of hope but it must be a lot for them. I feel like Anne is under exaggerating the invasion because from the stories I’ve heard it sounds like a horrible thing that happened in history.

Pretty self explanatory but I felt like this a few months ago and it was really bad. Like there was no way out.

She had closure in her diary, and like I’ve said before, it seems like she knew her time was coming. It ended with a beautiful reflection on life, feelings, love, and relationships. She would’ve been a great writer.

Anne was talking about her hobbies and we both enjoy writing, but she says she doesn’t view it as one. Could be meaning a career being a writer, which is exactly what I want.

The burglars, honestly. It’s pretty wild how that happened and the fact that Anne explained it in so much detail when she just heard it from secondary sources is surprising. It was like reading a movie script, it was very detailed.
