I can relate to the feelings Rumi is expressing. These are the feelings I feel when I see a friend I haven’t seen in a long time, when I go away on a trip and come back and see my mom. It’s just the pure joy that runs through your veins when you see someone special and you forget everything else in the world for that blissful moment.

When I️ see someone I️ love in a group of people or even just alone I️ get this feeling of happiness and love that flows into my heart. I️ get that butterflies feeling in my stomach and I️ can’t help but smile and just thank God for this wonderful person. Love is a feeling that we can’t control that overcomes us and I can’t help but be amazed as to how wonderful it makes you feel. Love is something we long for and something to be grateful for. Any moment with a person we love is to be cherished.

If this song speaks about finding that one person we love then I don’t think we can fully relate to it yet. I think this song explains the feeling you get when you are with the person who you think you’ll spend the rest of your life with. That person might be in high school but most likely not, you’ll probably meet them in the future. I think we can kind of relate to the feeling of overwhelming love (the feelings like you and that person are the only ones in a crowded room), but just not completely.

It’s talking about how you always look for that one specific person no matter where you are or where you go. In my life, no matter what I do or where I am, I am always thinking of one specific person, and hoping that maybe I’ll run into them wherever I am because they make me feel better and they make me feel like me. I almost feel incomplete without them because their personality reflects on me. Their “qualities increase the soul.”

I think we can all relate to the section of this poem that states: "We sit inside the cypress shadow where amazement and clear thought twine their slow growth into us." I feel that I can relate to this line because I am constantly learning and becoming wiser through everyday experiences.

I love "our tears improve the earth. The time you scolded me, your gratitude, your laughing, always you qualities increase the soul" mainly because it describes how all things, good or bad, help us to grow in some way. It mentions tears and laughter and gratitude and how all of these things "increase the soul." I interpreted this line as it expressing how life has some good and bad qualities to it, but everything that happens to us allows us to learn and grow.

In my opinion the poem is conveying a love that is stagnant, one that doesn't change regardless of the events to come. Even whenever unfortunate times come, the sadness inflicted upon the people helps them grow, as he says "Our tears improve the earth." And also that the love conveys familiarity in a way that makes them love each other more. This is exemplified in "to see your face in a crowd of others, or alone on a frightening street, I weep for that." Poem? Nah. More like masterpiece.

"the most living moment comes when those who love each other meet each other's eyes and in what flows between then then" is one of the truest statements I have ever heard. You always feel most alive when you're with those you love.

The sense of comfort that comes from being so deeply connected with another person is, I think, the root of this poem.
